Can’t decide on a new streaming device

So I’ve been using the fire stick for a long time and I love it but I’ve been noticing that some of my apps keep coming up missing and the new update on the fire stick is gonna kill a lot of stuff. So it’s obvious Amazon is trying to put a stop to the third-party streaming. So I decided to get something else. I really like the Nvidia shield because I know how to program all my favorite apps on there Cody and you know use an umbrella and Surfshark and all that but Troy said there’s rumors that they’re discontinuing so that’s kind of iffy if they stop making it will it not work anymore because there’s no new updates and all that kind of stuff so I really don’t know what to do. I want something better than the fire stick. But I don’t know what you can program with Cody through umbrella with Surfshark and all the favorite apps that we all love. So any help would be great. I’m definitely gonna stay under $200. All I do is stream movies and TV shows so.

I know that it is not the most popular device but for basic streaming, i went over to Apple 4K TV, ahd ro relearn a few things from android devices but ok now. You do not need to have other Apple devices although if you do they integrate nicely.

I love my Shield Pro but am thinking, in the near future, of going with the Ugoos AM9. It would be less expensive than a new Shield Pro.

Please look at Troy’s recent write up on the AM9. Troy says that this is a great streamer for folks that mainly use Kodi and Stremio.

I agree with GraceWilson. I just bought one last week and have Kodi with Umbrella and Elementum, Stremio with the Bootstrapper addon, and Tivimate with my IPTV service installed. . I also have IPVanish and Analiti installed. I encountered zero problems with any installation and the box performs very well. Add in the extra 20 gigs of space left over and for the low price point, you can’t go wrong.

The one big plus to the AM9 is up-scaling. I came to really appreciating the up-scaling on my Shield Pro and when I added a Hisense Qled TV it made a very noticeable change to the older programs that I typically watch. As my TV also up-scales. But if you want to get off cheaper to save on the budget, the ONN Pro or Plus is a great choice.

Troy’s setup / reviews

If you want a cheap box that works great, The onn 4k pro or plus are good options. If you want premium picture quality and an ad free interface without messing with any 3rd party apps, the apple tv 4k is where its at. I run an apple tv 4k on my main tv and an onn 4k plus on the bedroom tv, both work great with my IPTV service and Real Debrid.

I have Firestick 4K Max’s and there’s a great post here on how to disable automatic updates that can prolong their life. I also have a Shield Pro and no complaints. I get gig speed wifi and very few issues with it, except that is 5 year old tech and it looks like they’re not going to upgrade it to a newer model. I also have Onn 4K pro and the new Onn 4K Plus. IMHO the 4K Plus is hands down the best upgrade for a FS user. Th 4K pro is also a great streamer and provides memory expansion. If you don’t record then my choice is the 4K Plus to replace the fire stick as you can add memory/ethernet by using an OTG cable and a UGreen adapter.

Check out Buzz TV. I have the X5, 64GB internal storage with easy storage expansion capability and I’ve had zero issues/complaints. It’s got no restrictions as far as loading 3rd party apps and it’s just reliable. Less than $200 and there’s at least one, maybe two higher end versions of the Buzz TV box that’s still under $200.

I use a computer at one house and one of those mini PC’s at the other. They work great full size tower is behind TV and the mini sits under one corner.

What’s your thoughts on the veesee boxes?

I imagine most here would NOT buy a preloaded box like Vsee. You can get an ONN box from Walmart (or spend a bit more for a Ugoos AM9), an IPTV subscription, a VPN, a debrid account, use Kodi or Stremio and be far less than what they charge.

I would HIGHLY recommend the onn 4K Pro Streaming Device. I replaced all my devices with these, they have lots of room and easy to sideload and the best feature, because kids/wife lose remotes, is the button on the device that will make the remote beep to be able to easily find it, though I did notice this feature did not always seem to be on as a default. But I highly recommend this device and it is easily under $50 at walmart and has free shipping.
