Here’s my first impressions video where I go through initial setup and provide my thoughts along the way. Come with me as I take a look at this streaming box for the first time.
This is a non-certified streaming box that runs a hybrid of Android TV and the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
Key specs include Android 14, 4GB of DDR5 RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a gigabit LAN port, Bluetooth voice remote, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, optical audio output, and a microSD card slot.
The standout feature that Buzz is heavily promoting is its advanced AI video upscaling. The AI-SR 2 system works inline within the video processing pipeline, automatically upscaling 720p and 1080p content to near-4K quality in real time — with no manual settings or adjustments required.
Please note that this is just my first impressions video. I’ll be posting a full in-depth review in the next few weeks once I’ve had more time to test and use the device.
Note: In the video I test the download/upload speeds and WiFi was lacking. After rebooting my router I got much better speeds - 366 Mbps down/171 Mbps up.
I’m more than happy with my Ugoos AM9 Pro. Superior support on the audio/video codex/formats. Additionally, I like that it supports 64-bit apps. Since I had the Ugoos, I put my Nvidia Shield Pro away.
The very second I seen that this box is not a true 64 bit device - it is a definite NO for me. I was ticked off when I bought an SK4 for my wife as it turned out to be a 32 bit device. This is a HUGE problem I see where companies are not specifically stating what the operating system truly is. It is a very sad shame they neutered this box taking an excellent Amlogic chip & cutting it down this way. God bless you @TROYPOINT for all you do to help inform us on the devices & their capabilities. Much appreciate ALL the videos!
As always, thank you for the video. I’m looking forward to seeing the full review. I have been debating between this box and the Ugoos AM9 Pro. I am not sure I am seeing anything to change my mind away from the Ugoos AM9 Pro.
I’m not that impressed with the new BUZZ TV Box. I attempted to watch your video and it continuously kept cutting off. Finally I made it through it! You did a good job covering the new box. However, as I stated I’m just not sold on it as you seem to be. Many times with new devices you really don’t know really about it until you have used it for several weeks or months using streaming movies or series or whatever you watch. I encourage everyone to truly check it out before making a purchase. It may be the best thing ever made but everyone should do their own diligence and research before they purchase one. You do an excellent job doing what you do but I think that at times you can a little biased. Nonetheless, keep on keeping on Troy for you are extremely knowledgeable at what you do. Thanks for sharing the new device.
As Troy posted. This is just a first impressions video and he will be posting a full review once he has had an opportunity to fully test it for a few weeks.
Curious what you think is wrong about the video? He points out every problem and from what I see the video and audio formats are probably the biggest issue.
As long as it has HDR formats thats good enough for me.
I have Powerstation 6 and love it. Nice thing about this box is that you get the features that come with that box at a lower price. Of course not as powerful but these specs are still great.
I have too many boxes as it is to go out and spend another $100 just to be one of the Jones. When one of mine dies, then I may consider it, but I already have a brand new ONN waiting for my cheap shield to die. I already have another shield when my first one was a victim of lightning. I have a cheap ONN a better ONN that I tried but I do it for my customers so I first hand knowledge. I will wait for all the reviews. I already threw 10 cheap boxes that older OS and viruses and low tech made them useless.
Thanks for doing this. Always appreciate the effort to do these sorts of things. One thing that I’d be interested in, not only for this specific review, but all or most of them in general, is something that offers an opinion on who might be interested in this, or maybe a better way to put it in WHY one might be drawn to it. For this, I generally tend to compare to the Onn Pro and frankly, I don’t have to drive to buy this just to buy it. It’s not a money thing, just a time thing for me. Anyways; what does this give me that the Onn does not? Sorry if this should be obvious to me; it isn’t.
