Hi all we bought a onn 4k plus in U.S, but the ai in it won’t allow me to change regin or use VPN. I tried a you tube video for a work around for the onn 4k pro but it was just a scam to get you to sign up for tunnel bear VPN no free trial. We use nord VPN but the ai prevented set up. Any ideas other then returning it or sell on ebay?

Hi I bought 4k plus in Walmart U.S a when I tried to set it up the ai in it took over my wifi and found something on you tube but it was tunnel bear the free trial was a hoax to get you to sign up. We have nord VPN but the onns ai wouldn’t let me use it ? I think I’ll return it or ebay it , funny thing none of onn stuff in Canada has Google just roku .
I purchased a cheap TPLink router, did the trick.

Here this is how you set up a Wi-Fi hotspot. Using Nord VPN you do this on a computer, once you have it set up set your VPN to the United States, connect your onn 4k box, to the wireless connection set it up ,Then it’ll work fine. In Canada.
Hi , about the onn plus working in Canada. I have 2 vpns but they randomly move , can’t find one that’s U.S only. So if you find a VPN that does please let me know. Thanks. G J .
What VPN do you have? I just switched from Proton to Nord and neither one of those switches locations unless I change them. In my Auto connect settings I get to choose my location to connect to when the VPN starts, and from then on it connects to that location unless the whole system is down of course.
@gwj200901 I had to factory reset one on my Onn tv box, I did the WIFI Hotspot setup, It took me a couple of tries but it worked, I have 2 more Onn boxes that if I have to do a factory reset I should be good to go.

Set up a VPN on a router. Anything that goes through that router will be using the VPN. No need to install it on every individual device.

Have you tried setting it up using an IP address (through the VPN) from the USA? Nord will allow you to connect to a server in the US. From what I understand that may work. You may also be able to change the region in the settings menu of the box.

Install your vpn on a laptop running Windows. From here, you can create a WiFi hot-spot operating through your vpn. Set the location to the USA. Connect your Onn 4k Plus and go through the set-up process. Once you’ve set the device up, you will then be able to install your vpn directly onto your device. After that, you can connect to any available WiFi, regardless of your location. Working fine for me in the UK. I’m using Surfshark too, ask them for instructions if you’re unsure - I found them very helpful.
Recommend to turn off any data collection or auto -update features to avoid bricking.

Seems the ONN 4K Pro ihas exactly the same specs as the Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 without the region restrictions. This Thomson is available in Mexico.

Looks like they both use the same Chinese OEM without the region locking of the WalMart product.

I live in Canada and just bought an Onn 4k plus from the US. The box does say it will work only in the US and PR. So I was expecting I would be getting the same difficulty in setting it up especially after I read the posts here. Fortunately, I did not. I have a 2020 Sony 4K Bravia. I went to Systems, click on Region and selected US from the list there. I set my VPN to US as well and did the setup. I followed everything thay Troy said in his video tutorial and it worked. I do hope most TVs nowadays would have this same feature as mine. The Onn 4 K plus is a powerful little box that comes with a cheap price.

can you install a vpn on a router provided by your inernet provider. if so which would be the best , i live in Canada and using a motoralla router with a eero mesh
