If the remote you are talking about has the “Free TV” button then it should have the backlight feature. If it wasnt working I guess the update fixed that. I dont remember seeing anyone else on TP complaining about it not working before.
I dont believe its an option but an always active feature. Unless the update changed that.
The original Pro remotes do not have this feature or the Free TV button. Or are you saying this remote has the backlight now working?
I’m sure thr topic has been said ad nauseam. Lol. Sideline lurker here but appreciate everyone of you. Especially Troy. I remember back in the day somebody said, “check out this guy and follow him." It all changes from that day.
The Onn 4k Pro. Man O man. Never would I ever believe that something so simple, so user-friendly, could ever just be the problem to the continued accelerated fire stick issues that stacked one on top of the other, month after months. A little bit of grieving seeing my two sticks go but oh well.
Has anyone taken the ONN 4k pro apart and come up with instructions as to physically remove or disable the listening device / microphone?
I’m not a fan of the always listening feature and don’t really trust Google to just not listen all the time despite the hands free feature being turned off in the settings.
So far my 4K works very well, except one issue. When I go in to Troy’s Toolbox the cursor remains in the corners and I can’t download anything. Any idea for a fix? Thanks
Lightning hit took out the router, firestick, a TV, etc. I purchased an ONN 4k Pro.
Got it up and running, then thought about the ONN booting problem with flash drive. My wife wouldn’t be able to do it,. Transferred the apps to internal and ejected, and removed the flash drive.
Any install tries to go to external drive. “Force install to external is turned off”.
I’ve rebooted multiple times, turned USB on and off,. I can’t install Analiti! I have to delete apps that are on internal. I don’t get it.
Also, I found that ONN cannot control power for both Insignia TV and ONN sound bar, its one or the other. Tried to remove the ONN, so it would power the TV, and it hangs! Maybe I have a bad remote on top of the other problems. I’ve been badmouithing Amazon, but I sure miss the firstick 4K right now!
I have the ONN 4K Pro box and a Vizio TV & Vizio soundbar. What I do is to let the ONN remote control the TV. With my Vizio TV & Soundbar system, when I turn off the TV from the ONN remote), the soundbar turns itself off after a short period of time. You may be able to setup the ONN soundbar so it shuts down after it gets no signal for a short period of time.
As for the flash drive, when you first plugged the flash drive into the ONN box, did you tell it to setup the flash drive as internal or external storage? I suspect you may have set yours up as internal storage. If so, that may be the reason it’s trying to install apps to the external drive (just a guess).
My fire stick is still working good and still fast as ever, I just need to keep from putting too many apps on it. I’m not one to buy a Onn and have to redo all my IPTV favorites I hate that. But when it dies, then I’ll get one.
In response to your Dad’s problem, I had a similar problem. If I remember correctly I told Google to go to “setup”. Once there I went to apps, and started Launcher Manager, and selected stock launcher. He can also reset to manufacturer defaults.
I think my ONN is toast! Either the box, or the remote. At anyrate I cannot do anything with it. It boots up to the launcher manager, so I suspect its the remote. Fortunately for my wife, I have a very old firestick that may satisfy her needs.
