Yes it is. Just because you dont download doesnt mean your not exposed.
I wrote IPVanish right before my year was up and they gave me a good deal because I said I wasn’t going to do another year
Need help my lpvanish keeps turning off when watching movies or tv shows how can fix it
Sure pays to ask. I recently told them the same thing and they gave me a one-year deal for $31.50.
I am an Amazon Firestick , VPN user that likes to access UK content: BBC, ITV, Britbox and NOW: I am a paid subscriber to all services and until a few months SurfShark was working and then stopped. With NOW, it would shutdown the firestick and had to be rebooted. The rest stopped working as well. I changed to Express VPN which worked for a month or so, but the same thing has happened, cannot access anything. The only way is thru a computer and then mirroring. If anyone has any experience access UK material please let me know.
Is there a worth while benefit to using a dedicated IP address like Nord offers to avoid VPN IP address blocking? Also, Proton is offering Lifetime VPN for 77.81 Euro’s yearly. Thanks, Guys!
I’ve never used a dedicated VPN address. Proton for about $10 a month Canadian is not bad. Maybe worth looking into one of their all in packages with premium mail, cloud storage etc. Not sure how much more it would be, but Proton is high up on the security protocols and their VPN has never negatively impacted my speeds.
Thanks, Miki you are a wealth of information. I always appreciate your advice and direction.
Proton still has one major flaw, which for me is huge, and they refuse to address it, and that is that on streaming devices like the Shield Pro you do not have access to the full settings menu. It works flawlessly but I would prefer to set my own protocols, malware settings etc. On my phone and tablets I can access them, just not on streamers. This has been almost 2 yrs. My sub is up soon and I may go back to ExpressVPN so I can actually access all the functions I pay for.
That’s great to know as I was looking to use it on my Shield Pro. Do they have servers in the USA? I’m currently using Nord, Tom Sparks recommends Proton as the best out there for 2024.
Oh they have thousands of servers all over the world, and these are brick and motor servers not “virtual” servers. Proton also wholly owns their servers. The VPN works like a dream on my streaming devices and with it’s “optimizing” code I actually get slightly faster speeds than my ISP plan states. I do make sure to have a VPN safety dot, but have only ever had my VPN drop on 2 occasions, in almost 2 years. BTW this is on my Shield Pro.
Can someone tell me the purpose for using a vpn to stream movies, tv shows, and sports?
Especially if sites can tell if you are using one?
Just asking…
Sites can tell you’re using one but it isn’t the site that matters, it’s your ISP. With an active VPN your connection is encrypted end to end and your ISP has no idea what you’re streaming.
I’ve been watching movies and tv online for decades and never used a vpn…
Even when I downloaded movies from torrent sites and apps…
I thought VPNs were used as protection when using public wifi…
But, to each their own…
Thanks for the post…
VPNs are used for anonymity. I never go on line without an active one. I like to be as secure as possible including protecting myself from identity theft and bad actors, especially on public networks. But as you say, to each his own. This has been discussed ad nauseum here and it all boils down to personal choice. We all do what we like. Have a Happy Easter. Mr. Peppermint.
Apparently you’re afraid of something happening, I’m not.
Knowing which sites to visit and where not to visit is what matters…
And you call me Mr. Peppermint…
Enjoy Resurrection Day tomorrow…
Of course I’m afraid of something happening. Any sane person would be cautious. But I know I’m safe. Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean someone isn’t out to get me. Lol. When I had a torrent site we were behind Firewalls, and that was for a good reason. I don’t play russian roulette either but if you do, that’s your choice, and I certainly won’t disuade you or demean you for doing so. It’s called freedom of choice. ? Sorry I don’t understand your Peppermint comment. That’s where PEZ comes from, the German for Peppermint.
PEZ Candy was invented in Vienna, Austria by Eduard Haas III as an alternative to smoking. The name PEZ comes from the German word for peppermint,
Don’t be so paranoid, no one is coming after you.
Pez was a candy dispenser used in the 50s and 60s in the USA…
By the way, the girls loved it…
Have a safe day…
Oh I know where it was used, but I also know where it was invented, PEZ that is. Please don’t take this the wrong way but I wouldn’t take your word for anything let alone whether someone is coming after me or not, I don’t know you. Have a blessed day.
Using a VPN I’m not paranoid I’m safe.
Safe from what or whom?
Now if I were doing something nefarious that would be different, I would most certainly use every additional way to shield myself, but I don’t…
But to each their own…
Thanks for the input…
