The following tutorial will show you How to Install VPN Monitor Dot on Firestick, Fire TV, and Android TV. Most cord-cutters use a VPN on their preferred streaming device to ensure anonymity and protect their data. This includes streaming devices such as the Amazon Firestick which is the most popular device available due to its…
The vpn monitor dot will not download from the toolbox. Says…“Harmful app blocked” from Google Play Protect. Is anyone having the same issue? Thanks
It says that for all apps that you try to side-load (install outside of the play store app).
Just disable play protect, install Monitor Dot, then re-enable play protect.
Note: You might also get a warning that Monitor Dot is an old version - you can ignore this warning too.
re-enabling play protect will get apps removed without your intervention
Yea, I have never re-enabled it. Just be careful where you are getting apps/apks from, and should be fine. I tend to just get mine from play stores, Troy’s toolbox or very trustworthy apk sources. Never hurts to keep virus total around I guess either.
Just letting you all know if you don’t know already, I found out VPN monitor dot has a new version out that has a couple of settings you can charge! Don’t know if I’m behind the times but thought I’d put that out there.
What settings can now be adjusted that you couldn’t previously? I don’t use it on all of my boxes, but I do on some of my older, less used boxes.
“I don’t use it on all of my boxes,”
Just curious…is there any reason why you don’t use Monitor Dot on all your boxes?
It doesn’t really have anything to do with your Monitor Dot, I do prefer it by a wide margin over Privacy Dot (the other dot in Troy’s toolbox). However, I still use SafetyDot for my main boxes. I have considered switching them all over to MonitorDot, but SafetyDot has been a safety blanket for me and my family since I started cutting the cord. I do like that they have some extra settings and features than MonitorDot, which is why I was curious to hear if there was any recent updates like @Sandman57 inferred.
Understood - thank you for the reply.

I take it the monitoring Dot is worthless during recording?
Is any Dot helpful during recording?
Rhetorical
I just simply clicked on the message and allowed it to download anyway. It’s been awhile so try it. I’m not sure so try to scroll down to see if there is an allow button. Sorry but it’s been a long time but it did happen to me. Good luck!
Pretty much as it’s only a visual cue and not a system one like a killswitch.
I have play protect turned off on my devices.
