I was fascinated by this. Is this something that only the AM9 does as it sounds like a really cool feature.
Iâm not sure but it seems to be standard on the Ugoos boxes, at least the newer ones.
Minix has something similar, but it pulls up settings in the side panel and you can navigate to the picture settings, it takes more clicks though.
Trying this right now in Tivimate on SK1 and nothing happens but you had me excited. ![]()
I tried this on my AM9. Didnât work but nice thought.
Adjust the buttons function, it works on the SK1
settings>device preferences>Inputs & devices>Menu button to change what the button does for various presses.
Have you checked your settings like I listed? Donât know why yours wouldnât have it.

Neato, thanks for that. ![]()

Will give this a shot. Thx.
Thanks @ScoobyDoosSpots I got the MENU button fixed after I disconnected the remote and then re linked it. I then tweaked the button and got it perfectly. I fiddled with some settings as you suggested while watching the picture and itâs challenging to see subtle differences. Iâll keep after it.
@sim_bill Iâll check your setting suggesting later today when I fire up the system.
Iâm loving the AM9 and thankful for it. I appreciate everyoneâs assistance.
Still tweaking.
I need clarification:
Is this done in Preferred Dynamic Range by choosing âforce conversionâ and then choosing âalways to HDR10â? It seems obvious but I just want to make sure.
Where exactly do I do that?
Not sure exactly where this is either.
Still learning this all. I want to get the settings down pat and move forward
! Thank you.
You can do the forced conversion setting as you pointed out. Set to always HDR10. I prefer this setting since I have an LG Oled TV and this lightens up the screen where I want it.
Thank you. I didnât realize what Hz even was. Iâll change that.
Letâs Geek Out a tad shall we? (Way more than you probably care to know, but info is good for your brain.)
HERTZ was a guy who did electrical science stuff back in the dayâŠTodayâs âHertzâ (HZ) is a:
Measurement
and is usually notated as follows:
- 1 Hz: One complete cycle occurs in one second.
- Higher Frequencies: Common multiples include:
- Kilohertz (kHz): 1,000 Hz
- Megahertz (MHz): 1,000,000 Hz
- Gigahertz (GHz): 1,000,000,000 Hz
- Terahertz (THz): 1,000,000,000,000 Hz
For our purposes (with Video Signals)
we use these calibrated measurements to adjust our screens video output and the parameters are usually defined by the equipment manufacturerâs of your specific TV.
Higher quality Tvâs usually (but not always) mean more available adjustments.
Some notable Applications
Include:
- Electromagnetic Waves: Hertz is often used to describe the frequency of radio waves, light, and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.
- Sound: In audio, frequencies are measured in hertz to describe pitch. For example, a sound wave with a frequency of 440 Hz corresponds to the musical note A above middle C.
NOTE:
(this info WAS NOT regurgitated from the annals of my cranial gray matter, but WAS embellished by me from and due to many years of Electrical Engineering work, sometimes including needing measurements in this very category, which I have fond memories of. - time for me to nap now.
)
Thank you @Reece - I thought that Mz was related to sound/audio, not the FPS video signal drivel.
Man I just got my 2 new Ugoos AM9âs today and already this first one blew up. I somehow changed the display to a piece of my full screen & in the process of trying to change things to fix that I completely got it fried. During boot up I get the chipset screen in that smaller window, then when it boots up the picture is totally scrambled, & although full screen on the width the scrambled picture only goes 3/4th the way down the screen. I am still fighting to get back in to it using the recovery but itâs not responsive to commands I am doing to it on that! wish me luck! Well, I finally got it to factory reset to get it working again, but this should not have happened at all. How in the world did this thing go from full screen to about a 1/4 screen to begin with, then just changing resolution it totally fried the picture.
Not sure on that as I havenât had that problem on either of mine, (I have 2), but it is possible you got a bad box. Use it a bunch the next week and if it does this again, get a replacement. Only other possibility might be your electrical current spiked.
Thanks for your insight on the issue, but I think I figured out what happened. In android 11 or 12 on the Formuler boxes I can shut everything google down without any issues. I disabled a couple of things that although labeled Google it wonât allow the box to work properly if they are disabled. After I finally got it to factory reset I was very careful to only shut down Google chrome, Google Play services & store. So far no more problems. I got a little over the top I guess to kill Google! ![]()
I ran Geekbench on this beast, & I am pretty impressed. Here is my results if you wish to take a peek.
The benchmarks on Antutu arenât quite at the top of the charts, but it still pulls around 271,000, which is quite a bit better than the Nvidia Shield. Even Antutu scores arenât the be-all end-all for a streaming device. Sophisticated users will look for more than just the test scores, basic settings and options, One of the standout features of most Ugoos devices is the large amount of options and settings that other manufacturers donât provide.
