I think the ad blocking and providing encrypted DNS giving added security and anonymity, are the main points
Re Amazon have blocked local ADB connections so my app wonât work on there. I can still use local ADB connections on my firestick as I have blocked updates. The other TDUK apps to clean cache and close apps are still working and it would be good to get a downloader code for this app. I have paid for and installed it on my Onn device.
Streamlocator is a hardware device but they also have a software only option.
Here was my old review on the hardware device
If you choose the one.one.one.one encrypted dns server from my app and start that.
Does that fix the philo app ?
will try that when I get home
Tx Doc hard pass for me because of lack of encryption and also because my VPN in no way negatively impacts my speed, in fact I get better speeds with it active. Tx for the review.
Iâm confused, am I exposing myself with this on?
@TechDoctorUK Thanks for responding so quickly and explaining streamloader for me!
Like you, I donât fully understand these settings.
My choice of streaming device are Formuler because of MYTVOnline app.
Although I have surfshark vpn, Formuler boxes can be set to a private DNS server (I set to Cloudfare 1.1.1.1) which places a âkeyâ icon on my Z8 pro box, surfshark app notes this as another VPN.
From my understanding from Android 9 devices, you should be able to set Private or secure DNS - not sure if this is the same for Android TV or Google TV devices
@Miki Youâre still a great teacher!
I use surfshark vpn when trying to get around the Geo Blocking but it doesnât work very well.
If the TDUK DNS Switcher doesnât seem to encrypt my traffic or provide protection from my internet provider from âsnooping and spyingâ and seeing anything Iâm doing, that would not seem to be a safe option?
When I use the ExpressVPN website to access the same tools I canât access in the app with TDUK app on, this is the message I get.
P.S- my app is up to date.
@MikeN Iâm using the onn 4k pro android tv box streaming device with surfshark vpn service. One Problem is that even when itâs connected on my galaxy s22 phone and I open one of Troypointâs guides talking about how it changes the vpn address, my ip still shows up as my ip assigned by my provider! It doesnât show the vpn address that surfshark shows where Iâm supposedly connected.
Very confusing and how do I know if itâs encrypted to protect me when using other apps on my tv like kodi? I have surfshark on the tv.
Hi @PapaS I have the same concern regarding encryption
Nope, tried all the servers and Philo will not connect which is strange because I can block on my router and Philo works. This is on a chromecast latest version box.
Not sure what youâre asking @PapaS . My understanding is the TDUK uses an encrypted DNS server if you choose that option and makes your connection even more secure without interfering with your VPN. My guess, and itâs only a guess as I had nothing to do with the development of this app, is that your scanning for DNS vulnerabilities is not working properly precisely because of that encryption and the scanner does not have the key to decrypt your DNS info.
âŚalso on the new google streamer it will not allow me to switch on network debugging so I cant start your app. It gives me the option but as soon as I change it it snaps back to off.
nope, dns will not protect you like a vpn.
Darn @Miki ,that article you linked to is way above my lack of intelligence halfway through I think I started to have a seizure all I wanted to know is if I download or watch something through RD, can my isp see what Iâm doing if I enable TDUK app with my VPN on? Likewise if using TiviMate with VPN on and TDUK app on, can my isp see what Iâm doing?
Sorry for the lack of smartsđ
This is what is confusing me
