Stremio with Torrentio add-ons suddenly not streaming

About a week ago (approximately) the links in Stremio started failing to load. After choosing any show/movie most links would not play at all, or play a bit then freeze, and endlessly cycle. Stremio (with Torrentio) had been working on all my Onn boxes perfectly since January. Presently the Stremio version on my Onn(s) is 1.9.12. Did anything change in the last week or so? Any ideas? My parents depend on Stremio heavily for their shows, any help would be great!

My DuckStreams just went down for Nuvio and Stremio. So I quickly configured and added Torrentio and Meteor and installed them. They’re working just fine. For Duck Streams I had to remove TorBox, MediaFusion and Sootio. Torrentio and Meteor still working.

I have Torrentio running with Stremio. Have “All” selected, so all the links are available. I might go through 7 or 10 different links before I get one to even attempt to start loading a show. 2 weeks ago the first link I’d try would load without delay. That’s why I’m wondering if anything has changed or is currently on the blink. I already uninstalled and reinstalled Stremio with Torrentio, with no change in the lack of working links. Stumped (admittedly, I’m not difficult to stump, but usually I get somewhere just by fumbling and trying different things, like turning VPN off, etc)

Using Torrentio now with TB. Lots of high quality streams and they play instantly and flawlessly.

Add Meteor with both TB amd PM of you have them. Finding lots of sources.

Are you using a Debrid service (Real-Debrid perhaps)?

I am. I use Premiumize.

It has been working well with Premiumize since January 2026, then 2 weks ago the buffering started, and this week almost none of the links will play, they just constantly buffer, maybe play a few minutes at most.

Miki, I’m not familiar with TB or Meteor. Please excuse my ignorance of these, I just haven’t really researched much on streaming software. I was using Cinema for years, until the Firesticks were shut off to third party add-ons by Prime. Switched to the Onn devices late 2025 and installed Cinema on them also, then Cinema called it quits. I then installed Stremio per Troy’s recommendation for a substitute, and it was easy to set up with Torrentio. That’s the extent of my expertise.

TB is another Debrid service and Meteor is another addon in Stremio. Seems both Stremio and Nuvio have had issues the last couple of days. Hopefully just a rare glitch and maybe updating. Today is a new day. Have to wait and see.

I don’t know what’s going on. I switched to Premiumize when Real Debrid went dark a couple of weeks ago but I’m having similar issues to you. Not so much buffering, rather the links just don’t play (I’ve tried multiple external players, helps a little but the problem persists). I’m thinking maybe the sources are gradually shutting down, although why this would cause an issue with (supposedly) cached links, I don’t now.

Try some different VPN locations. I tested both Nuvio and Stremio this morning and getting a good number of PM cached playable sources. Using a VPN location in Vancouver.

@miki I’m adding Meteor later to Stremio and Nuvio. Thanks for the suggestion.

@miki Done, thanks for the assist.

It has an extensive configuration but it is pretty easy if you take your time and go section by section. It’s all pretty self explanatory. Let me know if I can help. Have a wonderful weekend.

I’ve tried the Surfshark servers in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. No difference. I thought the VPN issue was just with Torrentio(?)

It can be with any app or addon. It’s the actual server config. So while you tested Vancouver there may be specific servers (numbers) that are best. Takes a bit of testing but even servers in the Netherlands can be better for some.

Does Torrentio have a way to generate generic Manifest URLs so your not dependent on having copy it from Stremio?

It’s in the config.
