Stremio vs Kodi: Which Streaming App is Better in 2026?

Just a little more info. I can install Mediafusion and Comet from the old site:

But keep getting the error on the new site:

I really can’t tell you why. I have no issues what so ever. The old addon site is no longer maintained. This is the link from the new site. I would try with SS turned off.

Kodi has never stopped working that i known of but Debrid services do go down and addons do sometimes become extinct. There is always another addon that comes along if one stops being maintained (for free mind you).

There are still some addons for non-debrid links (ā€œfree ā€) but I don’tuse them.

The plot thickens……………………..

When I access addons in the new site from this link, I get the error:

ā€œhttps://stremio-addons.netā€

When I access them from either of these two links, everything works:

Go figure???

Oh, and it’s the same with SS on of off.

what in the world are you watching on stremio that would have ads? Unless you are referring to live tv I have no clue.

How very odd. The opposite is true for me. The second two links you posted return 404 error codes and the first link works just fine.

I remove the quotation marks and it works just fine.

And they work for me now (nothing to do with the quotation marks, I just put those in to prevent the link image taking up space). Ordinarily I would think this was due to my internet/network setup but there are so many others having similar or other weird issues, I still think its ā€œthemā€!

I’ve given it a try and I still don’t like stremio. I’ve never been able to set it up properly. I’ll stick to Kodi, never had issues, and is simpler to setup. The great thing with Kodi is, you can tailor it to how you want it. I like the sleep function for example, and the ability to simply adjust the volume. Also the ability to just simply press play, and it runs. No offence stremio fans, I just don’t see the appeal, yeah it’s great you can copy/paste settings, but really? It’s not that amazing…

Not a matter of copy and paste settings. It’s so simple to set up, far easier than wading through repo entries and countless clicks to go here enter this and enter that as you must in Kodi. Stremio configuration is kept in the cloud and automatically applied to any device you install stremio on and log into. Addon installs are ridiculously simple just click the install. No having to type in anything and name it what you want, then open this look for that click this. Well you get the idea. After many many times doing the same thing, it does, of course, get easier in kodi.

I am a fan of Streamio. That auto stream tutorial was awesome. My question is some of the content has a slight distortion. Is this where I need a debrid account? There is so much content on TP I feel I have just scratched the surface. But I did purchase a ONN 4K Android device to compliment my 3 Firestick eventual paper weights.

I can testify to what Miki is saying. He encouraged me to take the Stremio plunge about 2 yrs ago. I am by no means a techie, but I watch the guide video and asked Miki a question or two. I did initial addon setup on my tablet and logged in and synced with my streaming devices. Its my go to for mostly tv series. I use it daily.

I’m a bit of an NFL season nut myself. I’ve got an annual subscription to NFL+Premium that I believe I purchased through Google Play Store a few years ago. For about $120 per year, I get access to game replays (Full length w/o commercials, or condensed games [30-50 mins]), PLUS there’s a library of every game of every season (including preseason & postseason) going back maybe 10 seasons. It also allows you to watch live out-of-market games, Red Zone Channel, & NFL Channel.

I HIGHLY recommend it!

@Tch1041, tx for the tip. I live on the East Coast (Go Birds) so i am fortunate enough to get both philly and ny feeds thru cable tv. With thurs nite, snf, and mnf, plus the 3-4 network games i get plenty to choose from via dvr. I am retired so i have plenty of time to watch. It is thru Kodi i fill in any other interesting games. I guess i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for dependable addons for nfl. Usually they work, but for the past 3 weeks not all games i’ve searched have been deliverable. Tx again. Enjoy the playoffs.

Daddylive Version 2 KODi Addon has flawless NFL streams of live games. Do a search here but make sure you have the Version 2 with the ā€œxyzā€ in Cman’s Repo. Or just watch this video

Both are great with Kodi there are far more options for live sport streaming.

Stremio I have never bothered with the live TV addons. I use an app specifically designed for that aspect of our hobby, TiVimate. I use Stremio exclusively for VOD which, with easily installed addons, does an amazing job IMHO.

Go Birds

Apparently, my repository wasn’t updating so it was the old version of DLv2 that wasn’t working. The new version looks like it’s working fine.

Live out of market games are only for preseason games. For the regular season games you would need Sunday Ticket.

I started with kodi about 3 years ago on a firestick 4k Max then a cube. I now use buzz 6 and formuler z11 pro. I still use kodi but have been using stremio for the last 3 months. I really like it but I still like kodi. I probably use stremio more but I don’t think I will ever not use kodi aswell. Which is better? Stremio by a nose.
