I wish Mecool could bake the certs into the Km6. A far superior box in terms of specs but in need of certs. Makes no sense to me. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to shift gears
Agreed! KM6 is a powerhouse. The thing I don’t like about MECOOL is how they are constantly pumping out new devices. I wish they would make one or two kick butt streaming devices and stick with them for a good year and issue updates for them. They could create 1 budget device such as a stick and one really good box with massive storage, certs, etc.
Looks like another awesome device ! Thank you TP for the video review. Curious why as TX said they don’t cert their best box. 4gb ram and 64 memory would be the ultimate. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Agree. I could see km2 lower spec but great box and then km6 high end box, pick your fav and stream away. But Mecool seems to be backwards thinking. The Km2 is a great box, I have 2 of them and zero issues but by no means are these high end boxes. Take the Km6 with 905x4, AV1, amlogic, 4G ram and they cant find a way to certify their best box (imho). This chip is equal to the buzztv x5. Its veeeery good.
edit: I agree on too many boxes. They should follow the nvidea model. one less powerful version of their flagship product. 1-5 star and 1-4 star product.
Thanks for all you do.
I have 2 tvs.
For 1 tv, I got the original right after you tested it. I love it.
I play zero games. I stream, and I add apps to watch whatever I want.
My other tv’s device is NVIDIA Shield Pro. I could sell it for $175 and get the new KM2.
Do you see any reason not to do that?
I agree with this and it’s the reason I e never bought a sheild. It’s a great box but I don’t game or download . I stream from 3 or 4 apps and still have 2GB of unused storage on my mecool km2. My current devices serve their purpose .
You want performance? 16 core cpu with 32 gigs of ram duel channel!
Aha, awesome review. I agree when troy stated in another topic that these companies should make one really good device with great specs and keep it updated so it lasts awhile. You dont need a super device to stream. But a really good all rounder that lasts a few years would be swell.
It can be done, its all micro computers. I looked into the cost of a motherboard with a decent cpu and ram put into a box. From there its software cost. A licensed os will cost you. So it really depends. I think troy looked into it but its the testing and customer support that will be an issue. Time will tell. Troy is full of surprises.
Out of all my boxes I think if I had to pick one it would be mecool. Really nice boxes just so many choices and specs scattered all around like a jigsaw puzzle
