Just like the screenshot previous to the one for prefix length. The previous screen asked for IP Address. The one entered on screenshot is not mine, that is already entered by amazon and its greyed out, I believe its a sample. Same as the prefix length in the next screenshot was inserted by Amazon. They both can be changed. I tried entering my devices IP Address and then it lets me hit next, goes to the prefix length screen which also can be changed from 24, but to what and for what purpose? If this is a glitch from an update I would assume Iām stuck with it because I followed Troyās video and hopefully blocked updates, so if itās a glitch it looks like I own it. I was hoping, Miki, you would have an idea what this is. Thank you for tryingā¦ā¦ā¦
I do know what it is but unfortunately canāt be there to show you one on one. All I can say is follow Troyās video step by step exactly and maybe someone else can jump in with more advice that might help you. Sorry.
I know I already said this, but I would HIGHLY recommend factory resetting these sticks before doing this new hack. With Troyās Toolbox, setting it back up will be simple, and it will eliminate any pre-existing issues with the stick so it wonāt impede the exploit.
This issue of the boxes showing up after settings>network with an Ethernet Connection showed up on my sticks before I followed Troyās Video so I believe the video has no responsibility. The video works perfectly. But if I blocked future Amazon updates and if these boxes are a glitch than I guess my devices own them. If the boxes are not a glitch Iām just trying to find out their purpose and how to use them. One of my devices, running version 7.6.9.7, that I used Troyās video for was lacking the Amazon update to āClear all Cacheā probably the first update that I thought had value. Anyway my point is on that device, because I blocked updates, it will never have the option to clear all cache. If anyone can go further with knowledge on the purpose of the IP Address and Prefix Length boxes when I click my Ethernet Connection please advise.
I would suggest keeping an eye on this forum for when an Amazon update actually stops this hack from working. This is the developerās forum.
Iām in the same boat as you where Iām still waiting for an update on one device and I just have the updates enabled for now. Once I see that Amazon is rolling out an update that will block this hack I will turn off auto-updates.
`I have update my cube and tv max to wolf and have blocked updates. I was going to update my daughters FS 4K but thought that for them it would be ideal to keep the Amazon look and feel ( not wolf) but block updates. Is this simply a case of changing the launcher and not using Projectivy or do I used projectivy and not change the launcher. sorry if this is a very simple question that I should know better, Thanks in advance for any guidance
I dusted off my FireCube 3 and FS 4kMax and everything went great. They are so much more pleasant to use now.
It really makes you dislike Amazon even more for how they take nice hardware, especially the FC3 and hobble it with their bad UI and policies.
The rumored FireCube 4 is supposed to double memory to 4gb and 32gb memory and probably increase performance over the already quick FC3 and since it wasnāt announced with the new Vega stick some now think it will be Android 14 based.
Iāve generally said no more Amazon products, but they might suck me back in with a nice enough FireCube4 since I think it will just be a matter of time until there is an exploit like this for any Android based device.
You do not have to use a 3rd party launcher, just skip it if you donāt want to. You can also just change it back if you decide you want to go back. Thatās what is so great about it, it puts choice back in your hands, not Amazonās.
Thank you for your suggestion. On my device that hasnāt gotten the update to āclear all cacheā I went back to original format as in before I did the hack. Iām a bit nervous, Iām hoping for the update I want but Iām a little jittery that my device could be the first to have all side loading blocked. That would ruin my device and my entire plan that I want the āclear all cacheā function. I guess everything is a gamble. If I only had a crystal ballā¦ā¦
Iām right there with you. I have 1 Fire Tv Cube that I did the hack on but also do not have the āclear all cacheā update like my other 2 have. I love the āclear all cacheā feature but not enough to reverse the hack, update software and the re-hack. Iāll clear cache manually.
Thankyou very much ScoobyDoosSpots. Sorry for being so technology illiterate. but what do I want to do to only block amazon updates but not use projectivy ( assuming that projectivy is the UI that appears?) so basically want to keep the same look and feel but to be able to use abdlink to block updates.
And would this also allow me to use TDUK cache cleaner?
After installing Launcher Manager etc. as Troy did in the videos when you go into Launcher Manager just leave the setting āCustom Launcher Statusā set to Inactive and You will have the normal Amazon home screen. You can still turn off updates etc. like Troy showed.
I havenāt tried TDUK cache cleaner, but I would think it would work. I have the āclear all Application Cachesā option is setting so use that when I need to, which isnāt very frequent.
Thank you Grace for the support. Right now I have gone back on my specific device that hasnāt gotten the update for āclear all cacheā. That device is running version 7.6.9.7. All my other sticks with the update are running 7.7.0.4. So I am hoping that when it does update it doesnāt shoot right past 7.7.0.4 and somehow block my ability to sideload apps. Itās hope and patience that I am short on. I keep going back and forth as to whether it is worth the gamble to chance loosing everything just to āclear all cacheā. This is only my second day running this gamble. (Que Sera, Sera). I just donāt know how long I can hold out waitingā¦ā¦..
It lets me switch back and forth at will. Did you check the always box when it asked for permissions? I just followed the video and follow-up video without any extras.
