The two I mentioned are free. Check out fitetvsticks.com.
Adguard doesnât have a free ad blocker for android. Not familiar with the other one.
You can use dns.adguard-dns.com and it will block ads, on Android/Google TV I would use TDUKâs DNS switcher app.
On a Firestick you have to use ADB from a different device:
settings put global private_dns_mode hostname
settings put global private_dns_specifier dns.adguard-dns.com
or by IP using ADB:
settings put global dns_servers 94.140.14.14
(Up to 3 DNS IP addresses as a comma separated list)
Thatâs how to use adguard free, of course without bells and whistles.
Gentlemen,
I have a quick question, is Flix Vision safe to use? Virus Total says it has detected 5. Also when you try to watch several movies I keep getting the rotating RBC logo. Thank you all in advance for your sage advice.
been using it for a few months with no problems never had that logo would suggest you reinstall i think troy listed the downloader code on here
@pirate77. Thank you.
I just tested the 3.1.1r version and VirusTotal is yellow and 5 possible viruses.
i use a stick so not a problem nothing to gain maybe false positives thanks anyway
@Mslea , yup, thatâs what I found too, I still use it, but I make sure to force stop it after Iâm done.
Here is what I found and why I wonât use or recommend the app.
A few months ago, users reported that the Flix Vision app was making unsolicited network requests (signs of internet sharing/botnet). Being a reverse engineer myself, I decided to look into the latest version of the app and check for potential malicious code.
I have discovered that the Flix Vision app has code that, at the developerâs discretion, can remotely enable an internet-sharing SDK called TraffMonetizer that runs in the background. This turns the users of the Flix Vision app into exit nodes for residential proxy services that can perform web scraping and other malicious/illegal activities 1,2, using the userâs internet connection, without their consent or knowledge. The developers of Flix Vision get revenue from TraffMonetizer for selling userâs internet connections.
@Timwort ,
I have other apps I use daily, so I just deleted it. No need for me to use an app with yellow or red warnings. I was going to just check the current version out. I used it years ago and was going to see if it had any new features.
Can someone explain why flixvision disappears on the MeCool box but does not disappear on the fire stick, could it be a setting in the MeCool box that needs to be changed? Can someone help?
Is play protect on? Thatâs why
How do I turn that on?
You want to turn that off. Itâs in Google play store. Click on your account avatar top right once you open play store, then click on manage apps & devices and it should be right on the top.
@PapaS is Right, sorry I should have been clear about âoffâ.
Thank you for this!!! It just stopped today with a warning from Amazon and I thought the Fire TV was flagging apps like this. WHile itâs probably time to switch away from Fire TV, we werenât ready just yet, and Amazon might be doing some good for once.
Latest update to fire os on fire stick 4k max is marking flixvision and disabling it. It isnt possible to allow and enable on the firestick as its not governed by play protect. Its still possible to install and run 3.1.1. though
i am using the new onn plus, and installed flix vision. a popup appeared yesterday ssaying, " flixvision is a fake app and that it was stealing my information". is this true? should i delete the app or continue to use the app?
