It has been reported on GitHub to have malicious code. It is your call to use it or not.
Interesting, I installed flixvision on my Onn 4k Plus box a couple of days ago and didnāt see this (of course, a couple of days is a lifetime these digital days)!
If you use. Virus Total it will report 5 hits, there was a version that had 6, at the time of the 6 hits it was reported to use your bandwidth, if you examine the 5 hits from Virus Total the hits are listed possible but doesnāt report actual viruses.
I still have it installed on a Onn Plus and Pro, I made it a point to monitor traffic through my switch to that device, there was never any activity. If I use the app I always kill it (forse stop) after I am done.
The app doesnāt worry me, I have seen malicious apps on some unlink stores, so in the end you need to make a decision about the app and where you get it.
As far as the warning, that play protect, turn it off.
I have it on my Onn 4k pro, it disappeared the other day, when I went to download it again, I got the message. I did go back and find version 3.0.0 and no pop up. I may have to figure out this virus scan thing.
Apparently,. This version is different. The consensus seems to be to avoid it. It might not be a bad idea to put a disclaimer in the download page warning others instead of just mentioning Amazon blocked it. I found a lot of disinformation on Telegram saying ALL third party apps with many likes or upvotes are now blocked by Amazon.
I certainly think if you donāt trust the app then you shouldnāt use it. The reason I wrote the above was to report what I found when testing the app.
I am a bit skeptical about the various reports, for example the bricking of the Onn devices, I am not saying it doesnāt happen but it certainly didnāt happen to me, I explained my whole experience with A14 update on this site, Projectivy bricking device, I think the problem isnāt Projectivy, reports about FlexVision, btw mine app is up to date.
The truth is 5 reported hits by Virus Total is concerning, but false positives are not uncommon, 5 hits is uncommon though so I completely understand not wanting to use it. The app has always shown those 5 hit when using Virus Total.
I am not trying to convince anyone to use it or not use it. I donāt disagree with anything in your post. I also note your post, like mine doesnāt state an opinion, just information, I for one appreciate the information. Thanks.
I used an older version of Flixvision. I never had an issue. I havenāt used IPTV or watched anything other than YouTube for many months now. Given the āadditionalā hits compared to the previous version(s), in my mind that convinces me not to use it.
On a side note, Iām not sure whatās more disturbing. The shills promoting Onn and dissing Firestick or the ones who jump on the bandwagon and upvote such lies about the Firestick.
Not sure where you are referring to upvoting, but the site does not have any options for voting on threads. Also ppl are allowed to voice their opinions, pro or con, about devices or tech, without being unjustly labeled a shill or a liar. Thank you for your contributions.
I was not referring to this site at all but others such as Reddit, Telegram, and Discord. Opinions are fine but when it includes disinformation (versus misinformation) that [justly] defines them as shills in my book.
Yes it may your view but we donāt care about outside organizations and sites and we prefer to keep this site focused on cord cutting. We canāt do anything about them and have no influence over them. Name calling and insulting others is not anything we encourage, and leads to arguements. If you have some tech info, that you can contribute, or assist others with issues, thatās what weāre all about, and those are appreciated. Have a good day.
for those who liked flixvision i have found a working version 3.1.2r tried it out working fine downloader code 2619957
I would urge extreme caution. There are so many tried & tested alternatives out there that are known to be safe. FlixVision on the other hand was found to contain code that can use your internet connection for all kinds of nefarious purposes, much like all those free scam VPNs do, which depending on where you live can get you in REALLY bad trouble. I donāt want to go into detail about what people might abuse your residential IP for, but Iām sure you get the idea. Itās not pretty.
See this:
I agree I would urge anyone to check I just put it out there for people who want to try an of course always be careful ps I think Amazon would have blocked this version if it contained the same as the other version of flixvision but itās still worth running a check on it
I have searched the forums, but havenāt found an answer yet. So, move this post if need be, please. Is there a possible way to get the live TV m3u from flixvision to load into something like tivimate?
FYI
I saw Troyās latest post about downloading Flix Vision as one of top APKās for November. I found a work around the block by Firestick latest upgrade. You can download Flix Vision through APK Time. It will be the older version. Exit app and then reopen it and it will tell you the 3.2.0r is available. Mine downloaded fine with latest updated version.
i use to download those free apk appās for tv and sportsā¦but with cheap iptv service i no longer need to? i basically get everything for 30US per yr? not ignoring your question but i needed to try to update those apkās all the time? no longer need to
Which iptv service are you using? I agree Comtech, I doubt use those very much either. When we travel countries for winter I do use Stremio a lot though.
I figment out tivimate on my laptop is whyā¦Stremio is easier it seems?
So I was a bit bored and decided to try something new on my AM9. I saw the write up on FlixVision so I decided to try it out. It looked pretty cool, but thought I should run Virus Total to check things out. HOLY SMOKES!
Rising - Trojan.Agent/Android8.358 (CLOUD)
K7GW - Trojan (006d673d1
ESET - -NOD32 (Android/Agent.FNM trojan
SymanticMobileInsight (AppRisk)
Ikarus (Trojan.Android)
So, should I wipe my AM9 or ?
Of course I immediately dumped the app.
Long time KODI user and donāt use the Shi$ APKās like Flixvision, Bee, Onstream etcā¦..I think most of these might deliver false positive Malware. Iāve seen a lot of posts here regarding that
I think you have a bad source for the app, unlink maybe, you really need to check everything from those stores and the same is true all stores on Linktree.
I am not saying to not use them but caution is warrantied.
I have FlixVision, one hit with Virus total and reported clean, the hit is:
AhnKab-V3 PUP/Android.Malct.1228506
(PUP) Potentially Unwanted Program
(Malct) Mobile Android Malicious Chartaeristics
So this is most likely adware or a false positive. My Version:3.2.0r
Iām not saying use it, I donāt care one way or the other, I do use an ad blocker on my router and Mullvad.net encrypted DNS, I have had no issues with the app and I monitor all apps for data transfers when not in use, I normally force stop them. You can get the clean app from their website, or not.
Just a public service announcementš
