Buffering with spectrum internet

Cousinbrucie 1,
Any update on your ACP status?
I am looking to try this too.
BTW…do you know what the hook up speed is?
Thanks-

ACP is due to end in April.

Reece,
You are right. I am hoping that it will be passed for renewed funding by Congress soon.
Thanks for the reply.

I have ACP for about a year. $55 AT&T Fiber has been $25. Several notices lately saying if Gov does nothing it will be gone in April. Still hoping!

I was just informed by my isp that the ACP credit was not extended by congress and the April credit would be the last. The connection speed is whatever you have contracted for with your isp. ACP has no bearing on speed - unless you were getting internet for free through the ACP.

April 2024 marks the end of that program because congress decided not to fund it any longer. This program was initiated during the covid lockdown period and served a purpose for those confined to their homes, especially for remote schools.

However, there is another program you can look into and is active called the "Lifeline Program"https://www.lifelinesupport.org/ This program has some benefits to your cell phone and possibly in some cases your internet expenses.

I signed up for it also and was approved. Unfortunately, for me, here in NE Tennessee Spectrum does not participate in this program. Although, there are other providers in my area that do.

Anyway, the ACP is kaput and are not taking applications, but you may still be able to find some financial relief in the Lifeline Program.

A penny saved is a penny earned!

Good luck

EDIT: Sorry folks. It seems I posted an incorrect link. Here is this correct link, https://www.lifelinesupport.org/

And as far as Spectrum Goes…Good Riddance!

Powerfader,
Thanks for the update. I am in the process of buying a modem and a routerr this week. I wanted to get a ASUS router but they are way too expensive.
Comcast charges $15 month for a modem/router combo that screws up my surfshark connection. IPv6 must be used.

I am taking a bit of risk by trying out a AMAZON Renewed Modem.
I saw the price and the specs…and oh well cross my fingers…
Can’t beat the price…

Confused why Comcast rates it at 864 and Cox says 1.2 GB.
Wondering why the spread…? Can someome enlighten me? Please?

Does anyone actually have any current info about ACP? Everything I can find is dated earlier this year. Yes my ISP has notified me but nothing from the gov. Maybe they will do a last minute like everything else they do!!!

Literally 3 posts before yours @Powerfader gives you the info.

Miki I read that. However I have not seen anything firm from the gov. I wrote to one of my elected officials and they replied they were still looking at it. We will see.

I am clear on all of that. However when they say

  • After May 2024: If Congress does not provide additional funding, the ACP will run out of funding and ACP households will no longer receive the ACP benefit…

Look what they do with keeping the country open.

I don’t know about the US, but I think it’s a tad impossible to provide info about events that have yet to happen. Scrolling down in the FCC article outlines a timeline of expected events and notifications. Best I could find for now.

Just saying our government is famous for doing things at the last minute!!!

And until that takes place you won’t see any definitive info. I guess i misunderstood what you meant when you said “However I have not seen anything firm from the gov.” That’s why I gave you the released info from the gov.

Understood, thanks!

@psblin99 - this is true…the US government is notorious for waiting until the 11th hour to announcement decisions such as this. You throw in the fact that it’s an election year, and to which ever side that can spin a program renewal to benefit their campaign agenda, you can certainly expect a tactical timed response.

Let’s just stay hopeful.

Fingers crossed!

The ACP is closed. YOu cannot apply for it anylonger.
