He just has internet
Thank you so much. I did this for my cricket cell phone account a couple months back and was approved, then i saw this and just applied for my spectrum internet account and got approved. Thank you for the link. I would’ve never thought to try it for internet also. Got approved though.
What did you try. I don’t understand your post
Sorry i didn’t specify. I did the affordable connectivity account to get a discount on my monthly bill.
Looks like the Affordable Connectivity Program ($30/month toward internet) is no more.
Ends March or April. Unless the people we vote for do something for a change.
Yea, i keep getting an email to send a reply to the government in charge so they can extend it. But you know how the government works
I sent a couple of emails.
Just sent another email to my rep with your link. Thanks!
Went to the Affordable Connectivity Program website yesterday. “The Affordable Connectivity Program will stop accepting new applications and enrollments on February 7, 2024. Consumers must be approved and enrolled with a service provider by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 7th to receive the ACP benefit.” I filled out new application, attached copy of SS benefits form and submitted. Email this morning said I was approved. Filled out ISP form for ACP, and they confirmed I successfully applied. “We will verify your eligibility and let you know in two to five business days if we can provide you the credit. Look out for an email with your status, it will be sent to…”. So it looks like this program is still alive (or am I missing something), but a deadline, Feb 7, is fast approaching.
Yeah, I read that, too. It is set to expire in April unless congress continues to fund it. This was started during the covid calamity.
I think there is some discussion about it in DC. I sent my rep an email with @teehar link attached.
Here is a response I got back from my area rep.
The lifeline isn’t really a competing program,I have to disagree with her on that.It was designed many years ago to help folks with their phone bill. There aren’t many isps that offer discounts for just lifeline. Some cell phone companies do though.
And it would take some digging but the NC rep I sent the email too, pretty much brushed it off as a waste of tax payer dollars lol.
Yeah, I looked I up and didn’t see Spectrum on the list for Lifeline.
I just hope my rep takes some notice of the link you posted and maybe collaborate with other members of Congress regarding this topic.
I mean I can see how some might say the ACP is a wasteful program and that the isps mark up the prices so they can get more money, but here’s the thing. Our grandson is in the 6th grade,he is here 2-3 times per week, and has remote/virtual,or online classwork. We do a lot of our bill pay via online, shopping for household items etc.We also have to take care of online things for both our mothers. To me that makes it a necessity.
Hey @teehar you are so right on with this man. I do so much on the internet now just like you do. I don’t own a car or drive anywhere and value my entertainment and escape from reality. Have a great day my friend. Loved the post. Tx.
haha so accurate.back in the golden days of dsl I could still have internet with a battery powered inverter. These days when the power goes out so does the cable internet I weep lol
Try a UPS they work wonders !!
Powerfader,
Please keep us up to date on this subject. I am thinking about ACP too because I just qualified to Medicare. According to the website I think I may be eligible.
Thanks!
