šŸ† Better Alternative to Real-Debrid & Premiumize? + Less Expensive

Thanks, PapaS, it looks as if my subscription runs to June of 2026, so I’m considering the lifetime script to try Torbox.

One thing I have noticed, after a lot of playing around with the settings, is that you can’t count on TorBox to have say a new series episode shortly after it releases. Back in the day when I ran a torrent site our uploaders had competitions to see who could be the first one to upload a release. It was a sort of status thing for all the torrent sites. So you may have to wait for a day or more for the releases to show in Torbox. You may get a lesser res release like 720 but even though RD or PM have 1080 out to watch, TorBox won’t or it hasn’t from my experience yet.

Make sure that you check to see if you input your API key accurately. Sometimes, ā€œlike charactersā€ can easily be mis-typed and ruin the string.

Otherwise try refreshing your api key and input the new key and see if they recognize it.

It’s there, scroll down farther.

Thanks @Miki because of this I will never leave Real Debrid. If I’m watching a TV Show that releases weekly and Torbox is a day behind RD no way I’ll ever use them

I think it depends alot on the content you watch. I think by there Discord server, Torbox has attracted a lot of younger users so if what you’re looking for is popular among the younger crowd then it’ll be there quick. And if you’re into that weird anime’ stuff, you’re in. But there have been plenty of times when looking for something new, Torbox might be the first to have 4k.

Another cool little tool for Torbox users is Debrid media manager. Works with a few different Debrid services and compatible with Trakt.

This isn’t always the case, as I’ve seen day of release TB sources get pulled later in the evening for some stuff.

It’s hit and miss, but for the few instances last week where I wanted to see release day episodes, I saw RD and TB sources that night.

To ne sure they are always improving their sources and dedicated to getting better as more ppl join the service. One thing for sure, they are very active with improvements and updates go easy so you don’t have to uninstall and reinstall or do much of anything but enjoy it. BTW all the series I watch are main stream popular ones.

Does this mean your actual full real name and real email address? I tried to set up an account the other day and it didn’t like my alternate identity email so I backed out.

I just created a 1-month TorBox test account yesterday to try out. I wanted to watch a brand new (same day) release of an episode of a show. I initially tried it with my RD setup and it took me about 5 links before I found a working one via RD (received several messages that it was not yet cached). As a comparison, I then tried it on my separate Stremio (testing) account that I configured with TB. With TB, I was able to get it playing on the very first link. This could be pure luck since it’s only one limited test case, but this quick / early test had TB produce a working stream with less trail & error than with RD.

I also setup a 1 month TB account. I haven’t messed around with the new episodes yet. Thanks for your feedback on that. So far pretty solid compared to when I tried it back in November of last year. Debrido with TB addon pulling more links than Real Debrid.

I might give TB a run shortly.

No, I think what @Miki meant was if you were going to use a payment method aside from crypto, like credit card or PayPal, you’re required to populate valid identity info for the charge to go through properly.

I used a burner email and confirmation went fine for registering.

Exactly. Tx @mthr1 for clarifying that.

I like how you can choose the most efficient CDN based on an integrated speedtest and latency check, allowing you to (if you choose) to manually select which CDN yiu connect and download from by default.

Pretty neat. Similar to how PM allows for server selections.

I paid for my 1-month subscription yesterday using a Privacy[.]com virtual credit card. At the time of the purchase, I input the virtual card # and a bogus home address. The charge went through quick & easy for the $3 1-month membership, and then I paused the Privacy virtual card immediately after.
This process seems like far less work than the Crypto method. It was my first purchase with a Privacy CC since setting that account up a short while back, and I was definitely impressed with the experience for anytime wanting to make an anonymous payment is needed.

Here’s what the payment screen looks like for when using a credit card:

Good to know Privacy works. I used Google Pay.

Maybe I have a bad install of umbrella on that particular device. I have torbox on one device with umbrella, but not on the other.

Check the version of Umbrella on the one that isn’t working to see if it’s correct. Current version should be 6.7.49
