HI Troy! Thanks again for another great article! I do have one question about the registration of Torbox under Stremio.
I have a number of addons installed under Stremio. In the past, I’ve always installed these addons within Stremio. I noticed that you did this by logging into the Stremio Bootstrapper site. I’ve never done this. When I did log into it, the first thing I noticed was the warning “You will wipe the existing setup. Recommended to create a backup before proceeding. Use it at your own risk. No support is provided.” Does this mean that, using bootstrapper, I will overwrite all the current addons? It says I should backup before proceding. Are they referring to the backup section on the bootstrapper site and will restoring this backup overwrite the adding of Torbox?
Thanks again for all your great instruction and recommendations!
Torrentio has been having problems off and on over the past few weeks. Good thing about Bootstrapper is that is provides additional scrapers to choose from, not just Torrentio.
Thanks for the quick response, Troy! So, if I use Bootstrapper to backup my configuration and install Torbox, if I restore my configuration after installing Torbox, it will overwrite my Torbox install?
That is how it should work but I have never used it so I can’t vouch for how well the backup works. Here is what I would suggest. If you have another email address you can use, or just get a new one somewhere…create a new Stremio account so you aren’t interfering with what you currently have and go through the new setup process to see how you like it. You can think of it as a test account or maybe you will just use this as your primary Stremio setup moving forward.
Once again, you’ve come through with flying colors! Thanks, Troy. I’ll try creating a second Stremio just to test this. Didn’t even think about that!
Not sure about cheaper… about same as I think for real-debrid on the 180-day max plan. Last update was 18.75… (in July) so maybe slightly cheaper? I know the premiumize was a more, so I hadn’t tried it yet. I’d been doing ok with RD. But does look interesting. Can see what you think as time to renew gets closer. Thanks
What is the integration with Streamio like? Add it as an add-on like the Torrentio one? I’m waiting on Black Friday deals with Premiumize, but may try this out if it performs similarly.
I signed up for Torbox when they launched more to support them and their vision of privacy than out of not liking the other services.
They had a rough start because they were not prepared to receive so many signups due to the RD drama but have steadily gotten better. Now they are a solid option.
I was lucky to get in on a promotion, and have it paid through 2027 at $23 a year and it says my renewal will still be $23. Hopefully they honor that but even at their regular prices it is a good deal.
Everyone needs to be watching around Black Friday for any deals, they’ve had them in the past.
This post may end up being moved to the Syncler thread, but since my question stems from after using TB, I’ll start here.
When having 3 seeders activated on Syncler (RD, PM, and now TB) are any users able to pull sources from all three services come up at the same time?
Prior to using TB, I was getting RD and PM sources pull up. After enabling TB, I only pull TB and RD sources now.
PM is authenticated properly and confirmed to show sources despite higher prioritized services having sources available. Actually I have TB configured with the lowest priority value of all three and I get more TB sources than RD.
Am I missing something? Should I be seeing sources pulled from all three services?
If doing it via the Bootstrapper method Only one premium service can be added, either PM or RD. I am going to try doing it without changing to the Bootstrapper method and instead getting access to the Stremio integration in my TB Dashboard.
For most of the APKs I use and Kodi add-ons, I’ve always actively used two services - and they each pull and list their own sources.
This is the first time I’ve tried using 3, with TB joining my RD and PM. In Kodi, works great. 3 services, 3 different colored corresponding sources.
In syncler, after adding TB, PM is the odd man out, displaying only TB and RD sources. I’m unclear if I’m missing a setting option in configuration or if it’s an inherent limitation of Syncler.
I got the basic TorBox account this morning and set it up in umbrella on Kodi. Watched 2 movies today and they were both 4K and no buffering. My rd account expires next month so this will be my new debrid. Thanks for tip Troy!
Excellent tutorial as usual… thanks Troy. Torbox looks interesting but not having a crypto account (and not planning on ever getting one) makes it unattractive for me. I’ve been a Premiumize user ever since the drama with RD occurred. Sure I pay a bit more for the service but I am exceptionally happy with it - they offer everything I need. Thanks again Troy.
