This actually looks very easy. I just need to decide which box (or format) works for me. Thanks guys for the info.
well to be fair, firesticks are android based. There really wasn’t that much of a learning curve moving from them to other android devices for me.By the time I upgraded to the Shield it was pretty simple.
I see Wahl mart has there device on sale for $14.88
If you decide to go with the Onn device…just make sure you get the “box” and not the “stick”…
I only just saw this news yesterday and thought it was related to an earlier move by amazon with their removing apps at their whim.
That is unless you altered some settings to stop that.
However this latest attempt by Amazon to block apps is pretty nasty, given they failed to tell anyone they were doing it as a security measure.
The article on AFTV news says that ADB debugging must be enabled activated by the hidden menu?
Once this is done a popup message is supposed to appear to say allow, but from all accounts this is not happening.
I am, at this moment in time, a Prime member, which will change at the end of the contract, for a number of reasons.
1/ The price hike last year.
2/ The fact that Amazon have decided to place limited ads on prime.
3/ This latest debacle,
showing they really do not give a crap about their customer base.
Time to switch to another more expensive device which I have control over.
Don’t get that one. Get the box @ $19.97
Same for Cache Cleaner on my 4K Max!
My Remote ADB Shell stopped working on my Firestick 4K Max and Firecube 2 ! Anyone know why ? This occurred Feb 24, 2024; could it be due to an Amazon software update ?
If you search for ADB on this site you will find the answer
Troy,
What is the problem with “ADB Shell” app installation? It used to work beautifully, now I get “Connection Failed” message. This app is needed to connect the “Status dot” for IPvanish. With it not working, setting that up is impossible. Please address this issue as soon as you can. I’m at my wits end.

The $20 Onn boxes are looking pretty good right now . You had to see this coming, get rid of your Fire devices…and Amazon too.
A while back Troy posted a method for blocking Firestick updates.
However that was for OS7. Has anyone tried this method for blocking updates for the new firestick with OS8? It worked for my older firestick and I used the manual input method. I have not tried it on my newer one yet.
No longer works.
OK, thanks for the quick response.
Am letting Amazon have their way. They are scum to do that. Will just be migrating away from Amazon cheap products slowly.
So this affects Firestick Max and Cubes? Is that correct?
Yes it affects the Fire OS architecture. The blocking of Android Debugging Bridge affects all apps coded by their Devs to use it on Fire OS.
