Wireless Keyboard v. Mouse Toggle app

What are major differences between the use of a wireless keyboard versus a mouse toggle app on my android tv box?

OMG huge difference. For example, typing, excruciatingly slow with click move click move to select letters with mouse toggle. On a KB it’s simply typing. The added functions a keyboard gives are head and shoulders above Mouse Toggle.

I agree with Miki, I use a keyboard and/or gyro type remote whenever possible. Mouse toggle is a last resort at least for me. I do set it up on boxes for people who might need it and have nothing else to achieve needed functions.

Thanks for the responses…but I have trouble scrolling with the KB (installed the Virus Total app and could not scroll to the bottom of the results and when I use the Toolbox I have trouble getting to the app selections) and was wondering if the mouse toggle app was better at that.

Don’t know what keyboard you have but mine has a track pad on it. I just use my finger and stroke down to get what I want.
OMG that sounds so rude, but damn it’s fun.

The only real good reason to use mouse toggle is so that you don’t have to spend money on a good Rii remote.

My keyboard cost $16. For all the added conveniance I thought that it was worth it. Some are cash strapped so I understand.

Hey @mthr1 sorry but are you talking Keyboard? Or did you mean remote?

Well, I should have said keyboard/touchpad/remote - a device of many cool hats.

Though in my household, it’s called the Rii remote. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Aha. I never use one to control my device, just for web surfing and typing. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Mouse Toggle for Android gets my vote. It works flawlessly and does what I need it to do without needing to buy ANYTHING or need to connect ANYTHING!

My mini keyboard doesn’t need to connect anything either. Just plug in the dongle and turn the KB on. I just found mouse toggle useless for manuevering around a site let alone typing. Scrolling was horrible. But if it works for you that’s all that matters.

Yep, it works for me! A FREE app for casual scrolling around apps and websites and another FREE app for more detailed keyboarding, mouse pad, track pad, tv remote, copy and paste, etc and all I needed to do was download a FREE app.
But if you prefer buying a keyboard and mouse and if it works for you, that’s all that matters.

I didn’t buy it It was given to me So free is what I do and with one device, but if you need multiple FREE apps to do what I do with one device then that’s all that matters. Luckily we have multiple options to accomplish what we want. What is the second FREE app you have PF. I’d love to test it out and see how easy the typing and copy/paste functions are to use. I’m always up for learning something new and TX.
Have fun and STREAM ON!!!

Hey Miki, would you be able to list the keyboard that you have? Inquiring minds would like to research it.

I’m in the middle of a Movie but will Dig it out and send a pic as soon as I can.

The top one is an auvipal as you can see. It’s my favourite due to it’s simplicity and diversity. The one on the bottom I was also given but haven’t a clue what it is. Both use 2.4Ghz dongles plugged into my devices.

The bottom keyboard/touchpad/remote  is a Rii i8. It’s an older version - but nearly the same as the current version, linked below.

I have the same one, but Bluetooth & 2.4 compatible. I’m a big fan of Rii keyboards. :call_me_hand:

I’ve known users that have used the Rii k25 with Shield and other android boxes with good success. With a $4 off coupon right now, I just might pick one up and play around with it. 2.4 remote/fly mouse/keyboard.

Thank you for that tid bit of info. I have only ever experimented with and not used it much. I only use them when I have a few Firesticks to program. Again I thank you and have a wonderful night. @mthr1 .
