Mouse Toggle app and Shield TV Remote app is all you need. To buy extra equipment is a waste of time and time for me. My apps can do what a ‘mini’ keyboard and mouse dongle can do and much more!
I use the Mouse Toggle for simple scrolling and clicking. It’s convenient, works flawlessly, and always ready to go with just a click on my remote. For other more detailed and robust keyboard functions I use the Shield TV Remote app which I have installed on my phone and tablet.
However, I don’t find a need to constantly be using any keyboard or mouse on a regular basis. Basically, just use them when entering iptv urls, registering an app, etc. The Mouse Toggle and voice search is usually good enough when surfing around a browser or Downloader.
So, if buying more equipment is your choice, then have at it. Personally, I don’t give a rat’s ass whether you buy 20 keyboards and mouse dongles or not.
Oh PF I love your passion and your rats ass comment cuts both ways. I don’t give a flying F what you do either. I do hope you have a wonderful day though no matter how angry you get. I only ever use a keyboard when programming devices for the sheer ease and simplicity of it. Take it out of a drawer, turn it on and click away. But I’ve always been one to appreciate the easier way of doing things. It isn’t about what I do at all, it’s about providing those who come for advice multiple options. I was hoping you would tell me what the second APP was that you said is easy for typing and copy/paste functions as I was hoping to learn a second method of achieving those functions. But for me hunting and clicking on a virtual keyboard is tedious and excruciatingly slow, even on my Shield pro, let alone a Firestick.
In my original post. I responded to the op. You took it upon yourself, for whatever reason to post a rebuttal to my post. Maybe you should concentrate on giving advice to the ones who asked for it. I did not ask for or needed your opinion.
What you do with your equipment has absolutely NO impact in any way upon me.
Btw, if you would have bothered to READ my post to you in its entirety. You would have read what are the TWO apps I use, or you may be struggling with a comprehension issue.
I saw the post PF and responded with an additional option which any sensible person would have. You took it upon yourself to misinderstand it and consider it a rebuttal. That was your doing. I still don’t see a name for your second free app. I have no idea why you get your knickers in a twist just because someone provides additional options to ppl. It’s a free world and a free forum. Your comment about asking for my opinion is irrelevant as my honest posts were for the benefit of the OP not you. I have no wish or desire to assist you in any manner, not everything is about you. Now you have a nice day and enjoy this free forum we all contribute to in a positive manner.
While staying on the topic of remotes, I keep forgetting how useful the shield tv mobile app is, as I was using it last night since my shield remote likes to lose pairing every now and then. It’s been annoying, actually - not sure what the root cause is.
Despite the app remotes being unquestionably useful - I think most users still generally like using a primary remote that is one handed. As a supplemental, the shield tv app is superior to the other branded counterparts.
That keeps your other hand free for your coffee mug or beer can.
So after receiving this remote (Rii K25), I finally got around to installing it on my Shield - lol - high on my priority list, I know.
So first thing I noticed - when plugging in the wifi receiver to my USB hub (connected to my shield), the remote doesn’t connect. When I relocate the wifi receiver to one of the shield’s USB ports, it connects and responds fine.
