That’s interesting. I was previously led to believe that it was based in IP address only. I have multiple TVs streaming RD sources frequently in my home and never had a warning (?!)
Thanks for the reply, yes I do understand that. I should have provided more details. There are many times when someone is using the same RD account at vacation home and primary home at the same time and no problems as Real-Debrid sees them as one ISP which is Surfshark. Always connecting to same server in Surfshark on all devices of course.
It might be working for you but I think its walking a fine line.
My RD account also knows my IPV6 number which cant be hidden under SS or IPVanish right now. I have RD set to Internet Protocol for IPV4 but it still sees my IPV6 address. My home ISP provides both simultaneously. I only use one location at a time.
Its working for you so i cant argue but RD might figure it out one day.
Edit: I was checking my account on my phone with IPV off. When i turned it on it only showed my VPN address (ipv4). But it does know i am using IPV. So I think your way will work (as it already is) as long as you are always connected to the same vpn address.
But wouldn’t that be a situation where you have 2 different IP addresses? I don’t use a VPN so not sure how it handles IP addresses with 2 different locations. I think that’s the flag
When you pick a vpn location, say Massachusetts, it may have 10 ip addresses. If you select the same vpn ip address at 2 different physical locations they show as if they are at the same location.
As long as RD is okay with using the vpn address it wont know you are at 2 different physical locations.
But now my question is, if i have 2 tvs at the same physical location and both have the vpn on at 2 different vpn locations am i in violation of their rules? Could they know they are at the same physical location.
Buying 90 or 180 days are a much more economical deal.
I’ve been using RD for a few years and it seldom fails, and when it does, they’re quick to add days to the subscription to compensate.
Sounds like the problem was on your end. If you are having problems they are NOT going to give you extra days. It’s only when the issue is on THEIR end. I’ve had no issues with RD for several months. And No you don’t need to report. When they are down everyone is down and they will add time to your account
then what do you think it was, it runs over internet and kodi, which both worked just fine with everything else. I’ve been using kodi since it was xbmc on xbox, 2001. Didn’t say rd was bad I said it was not working for 2 days. No sense in assuming anything, now is there? It could have been a small regional thing, we all live on the same planet, not the same block. Everyone knows what assume means, yes? Could have been any number of things but would have to be rare, like temp. problem with kodi only effecting rd or something very odd. I was just curious when I asked, was no big deal, that’s why I didn’t bother looking deeper. None of this is vital to survival, it’s just a time killer.
Sorry, I don’t know what the issue is other than it was on your end. I haven’t seen any other posts about RD being down from anyone else nor from RD. When they are down it’s posted on their website. Hopefully it doesn’t happen to you again
