Walmart Releases All-New 2026 Onn 4K Pro (V2)

I also didn’t realize this would have a backlit remote. Didn’t the first gens do that too? Sent a backlit remote for the first shipment and then changed? Anyway, it would be cool if that feature stays, I like it and I think it is important to others in here.

Yes, my V2 has the backlit remote and the Find My Remote feature.

Well, stranger things. Originally, I just substituted the 4k Pro into the existing setup, using the 1.5A power supply from the 4k Plus. Just for gits and shiggles, I substituted the Pro’s 2.0A power supply and don’t seem to be having the video cutout any longer! Hopefully, this was the issue.

Since these seem to be evasive, and hard to get your hands on right now, what is the best substitute in the sam price range?

There simply isn’t anything in this price range that has the same or better options unfortunately.

Thanks Miki, what about in the $100 range? Getting two new TVs and ideally would like them to all be on the same operating system, but with Onn being out of stock that is making things a tad difficult haha.

If you don’t care about Certified there’s a ton of Cheap China AOSP Boxes like T95-Z’s and equivalent on Amazon. I used them for several years before getting my ONN boxes. Worked quite well. But there’s also a lot of paranoid people that think they are loaded with Malware LOL. IMO I think that’s just clickbait as you never see an actual end user affected by that.

Just received my unit last night and the first observation is ONN is no where to be found on the box or device. Instead Google has their name on it. Just setting it up so I have a few observations.
In locating apps via voice control (even though Google spells it correctly) I had difficulty locating apps. When I typed them in directly I found them. The example was Tablo.
On the Plus side for IPTV providers (Smarters) buffering is greatly reduced from my previous ONN box. Although Smarters does seem to have issues syncing audio with video, often a lag in voice.
The native IPTV provider’s app handles the synchronization much better by Smarters handles the large number of channels much better.

welcome

Just be patient, they’ll be in stock in the next week or so.

Where did you get this from? Sounds like you got the (inferior) Google streamer and not the Onn 4k Pro.

The box should look like this.

Unless you’re a gamer, or need your box for other more intensive apps other than just streaming, there’s no need to empty your wallet on more than you need. I have a Shield and an ONN Pro, and can’t tell the difference between the two when I stream.

Thanks for the feedback. Considering how much time I devote to this hobby, and the amount of adjustments I’ve made to my setup, I have found myself move squarely in the “enthusiast” level user category over the past year. With that in mind, I decided to spend the $$ and get an AM9 Pro. I’m a couple of weeks into using it, and so far have really enjoyed the performance aspects of the device and freedom of the OS (no bloatware, no Play Protect messages, and a # of other things). There are definitely some differences and a few “oddities” with AOSP vs. Google TV’s more polished interface, but nothing that I can’t live with. Using some apps that are made to run on mobile devices or tablets vs. the TV version of apps doesn’t always work efficiently with a remote. Spotify is a clear example, but I was able to side-load the TV version on my AM9 Pro and that fixed things. The only other real gripe I have is that the on-screen keyboard with AOSP isn’t as remote control friendly as the Google TV Version, but it’s ok.
99% of the time with using Projectivy and the handful of apps that are my day-to-day drivers, all works more or less the same but with faster performance.
This is for my primary living room setup with I use most of the time. I’ll continue to use the Onn devices for travel or other rooms in my house, as they’re perfectly acceptable as all around devices.

Does anyone that has this know if you can power this with a USB port on your TV? I have NVDIA shield on my main TV, but am looking to replace the firesticks that are on the TV in my garage and on my deck so I would like to be able to power it with my TV if possible.

I’d like to go back to the ethernet port and wifi. The ethernet limits to 100mb but we can use a an ethernet adapter to go higher. Doesn’t it have wifi 6 which would allow up to 1 gb without the ethernet? Just planning during my long days of checking the Walmart site every two hours to see if it is available yet.

I like me some gig ethernet and will be glad when 2.5gb is standard on boxes.

IMO Ethernet in 2026 is waaaaayyyyyyy overrated. If you are limited to 100 GB Ethernet You absolutely should use WiFi over Ethernet. Back in 2016 I was using an Ethernet Adapter because 10 years ago Wifi sucked, but now Wifi has greatly surpassed a device limited to 100MB Ethernet with higher fiber optic speeds in most areas. Those silly adapters are no longer needed and this from one who used one - Back in the day!
