Walmart has quietly rolled out the new Onn 4K Pro 2026, also referred to as the V2 model, across various stores throughout the US. This new version builds on the success of the previous Onn 4K Pro, which quickly became one of the most notable Google TV Boxes available. Early impressions show noticeable improvements in…
it Kinda….sorta….looks like the google tv box, just sayn’
Also the ethernet stayed 100mb which is super disappointing
The USB downgrade along with the Ethernet remaining 10/100 are big disappointments. It all boils down to getting a better processor for $15, not much else. The big question at this point is whether they’ll bring the Plus back. I’m thinking they will not.
Not sure why anyone would need USB-3 or GB ethernet on these boxes for just streaming(?)
USB 3 is nice for SSDs in a USB housing, for those that record.
Agree with you on Ethernet. I can understand needing it to download large files but who does that on these boxes? Also, how many people actually use the USB ports on these streaming boxes? Now that we have larger hard drives, there’s no longer a need for putting apps on adoptable storage.
Back in the day about 10 years ago Wired Ethernet was definitely needed. Today it’s a different story by far IMO. Wireless reliability and speeds have gotten so much better and faster. Been using wireless Fiber for at least 6 years with zero issues
Would it have killed them to use usb 3.0 instead of 2.0? It’s like they upgrade one thing and not the other with these onn boxes.
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the VPN affect the speed? If the max I can get is 100 vs 1,000 and lets say the VPN takes a 25% or more chunk out of the speed I might be able to get away with 75 MB speed but I’d feel a heck of a lot better with my 250 to 750 MB.
could be a super fast movie ![]()
Yes it affects it but not by %. It all has to do with the CPU on the streaming box and how powerful it is.
I just FYI I found the new ONN 4K pro V2 by switching stores in my area and found it listed at just in case you want to put it in your bookmarks to keep an eye on it when it starts to ship if they keep putting it on and off for shipping. At this store if Link does not work Hope I’ve helped
Walmart Las Vegas Boulder Hwy Supercenter
5198 BOULDER HWY, Las Vegas, NV 89122
At the link left above I was able to click other stores near add to current that had stock and was able to purchase it from this address to have delivered to me because I have Walmart plus account. Being delivered from store not shipped. I will update hopefully they don’t run out of stock. By time of delivery.
Las Vegas N Nellis Blvd Store
201 N NELLIS BLVD, Las Vegas, NV 89110
Update: had mine delivered today with groceries. I ordered from this store listed above that showed in stock when my delivery came the driver told me he came from my regular store that I order food from and they had a lot in stock. Well that store if I go online does not show it is in stock. So I am assuming that they’re in most stores in stock but not showing it online in your local store so if you could find one close to your area and change your store location which I did and showing that it’s in stock order from that store. That’s if you don’t want to go down to your local Walmart to check.
I’m going to install it after I eat. I’m going to check if it has gigabit ethernet adapter to USB capability.
Also want to check if it has AI upscaling setting which I haven’t read about and they do not advertise it. I do notice a difference in it when I was switching from my fire 4K Max recent compared to my fire cube recent. And loading times where the max stayed at 1080p when the cube was at full 4K quicker.
Also wanted to mention where I haven’t seen anybody mention is after my shopper picked up the item momentarily online was reading $69.88 retail crossed out and then $59.88 in green like it was a sale so I would imagine prices will go up and down when there are sales. I took a screenshot will upload it later if I can.
The only other ONN I have is the 2023 model 4k that I only fully hooked it up recently because of Amazon shutting down side loading. There is a setting in the ONN 4K that needs to be turned off or changed that when I first took it up a couple of years ago The picture was really dark I eventually found the setting to change it to normal whoever program them should have had it off by default.
I will come back and update on my experience with the new pro I was thinking on getting the older pro but when I saw Elias’s benchmarks I pulled the trigger yesterday.
Hopefully this unit will be updated because I heard some audio was missing like DTS HD that was on the stick that was released.
My Fire Cube was purchased on WOOT for $60 it has been great except for whenever lately I’ve been picking a show on Fire TV screen it has been opening the prime video app which takes 10 seconds for it to play the video I will probably do a factory reset on that to see if it’s fixed cuz I will be using that during the day with NextTube in the background.
So if you want it it’s probably at your local store even though it’s not showing in stock. Cheers.
Does V2 work in Canada?
Probably not, natively, if it was bought in the US. But you can use a VPN to get it to work.
Glad to see that this new device is hitting the stores. I like the faster processor, but wish they added at least 1GB more RAM to this model (or doubled the RAM). Storage space isn’t a big deal for me, as I’m just installing apps and don’t have a lot of locally-stored data on my devices. What I’d love is if there was some sort of a side-by-side benchmark test showing performance of real-world performance of key functions of these devices (similar to what we get for Apple vs. Samsung phones). Ex:
- Boot up time
- App launch times
- App performance / navigation: Tivimate, Stremio, Nuvio, etc..
- Image quality (AI upscaling, etc…)
- Upload/download speeds with & without VPN
- etc…
@TROYPOINT - As someone who has only ever owned the affordable Onn 4K Pro & Plus devices, I’m blissfully ignorant of what I may be missing with the more expensive $200ish+ devices like Ugoos BuzzTv, Formuler, Nvidia, etc…
I know we have the Best Boxes guide, but maybe we can do more of a direct device comparison?
How much of a difference are you getting by spending 3x the cost (or more) on one of these more expensive devices? What do the improved specs actually translate to in terms of real-world performance?
This would be a great topic for a future article / video doing some side-by-side testing to show what the higher price tag really gets you. Thanks for considering this. ![]()
Ill stick to my wired connections. I built my 10gig network, and Im going to use it. Thanks!
To be honest, the main difference I see are the transitions are faster between screens and menus. I don’t see much difference in the clarity of the picture when looking at my Shield Pro vs Onn 4K Pro. Or, comparing Onn 4K Pro with BuzzTV PowerStation 6.
Another big one is storage. Some require storage as they record IPTV or they store moves/TV shows directly on their devices.
Video/Audio formats is a big one too but the funny thing here is that it seems the less expensive certified boxes have most of the formats whereas the AOSP boxes don’t except for Ugoos.
