Unfortunately, the ONN Google TV devices are geo-restricted during the initial setup process. The biggest problem is that you can’t install a VPN until after setup is completed.
A few things you can try:
• Connect the ONN box to a router that already has Surfshark (or another VPN) configured on it.
• Use a travel router with a VPN connection and connect the ONN to that Wi-Fi during setup.
• Try using a mobile hotspot from a phone that’s connected to a USA VPN through a travel router or VPN-enabled network.
• If you know someone in the US, have them complete the initial setup, then ship it to you.
As far as I know, there’s no easy way to sideload Surfshark before completing the Google TV setup because ADB access isn’t available until the device is activated.
Hopefully someone has found a newer workaround, but a VPN-enabled router is usually the most reliable solution.
