I know. But those with the ability and knowledge can access this address via the router. Good morning @Avid08 . Have a great day.

Good morning! I’m glad you explained it all as many would not even of heard of a MAC address. Having spent most of my career in the MIS industry, staring in the engineering dept. in both a hfardware and software capacity after I left music professionally, I sort of knew that  I only wanted to emphasis that anyone associated with those establishmens are absolutely no threat. That being said, most of what I knew disappeared with half my brain cells. I hope you have a great day and are safe from any fires that may be out there and free of the weather warnings of heat and humidity that just won’t let go of us.

Good morning Wiz. You are absolutely right. Ya it really isn’t much to worry about. I just wanted to point out that for those bad players out there, there are more than one way to skin a cat. I’ve never heard of anyone being caught or tracked via the Mac address, or even hacked using that method. Hopefully some will take the time to read and learn and add to their knowledge. As you mentioned, I doubt many even are aware that MAC exists.
I see you all are getting muggy hot weather. Killer temps. Here it’s 40 this morning and going up to 70. Our problem is lack of rain and so much smoke from our wildfires. Have a great day my friend and STREAM ON.

Rain? Googles that. We’ve not had rain in over three weeks. Everthing is dry, the grass is straw as nobody waters anymore thanks to the greedy water dept. hiking fees so high well over a decade ago. There are fires in Northern Ontario as well. We have had air quility advisories that were literally off the scale and could not be measured for the first time ever. If this keeps up, putting out those fires for everyone will be almost impossible. When it’s 25 C at 8:15 AM, you know it’s going to be a toasty day.

Geezus I thought about flagging the last 10 or so posts for being off topic. Boy have we strayed here from the topic of Walmart ONN 4K Pro review and guides to “I’m afraid I might get caught streaming Dexter at a hotel Geek nerd MAC talk”

After getting pinged for that recently I was about to say the same thing but thanks, I don’t have to now. I guess both are replies are off topic too.

Apparently, both the Onn 4K Pro and Plus boxes are having instances of bricking with a red screen when attempting to do an update with installation of Android 14. There are a few videos on this subject in Utube. Apparently the box cuts out before Android 14 is fully loaded. I have an in-law who notified me of this problem on his 4K Pro.

Actually the topic is a review about the onn and then questions about how the onn managed a vpn, and that evolved into mac on the onn. All related to reviewing the onn. Now had we been talking about say the Ugoos SK1 and the vpn on it, then ya I get ya. Almost 1100 posts on this single topic it gets difficult to focus on just reviewing the onn without touching on it’s use and how to do some things on it.

Perhaps I wandered a little, but most posts were broadly still discussing an aspect or use of the Pro. If we can learn something new to apply to it and have fun doing it then all the better.

That would completely stink if an update to Android 14 bricked your Pro. Mine automatically updated (with no problems). I guess the real question is why some have bricked and many others have not. The question du jour.

How to remove the banners and advertisements on the ONN device
Screen

On the main screen, click on the gear / settings on the right hand side, click on your account. Go to manage accounts, keep to the right hand side, scroll down, turn on apps only mode, turn on again back out to the main page. This will get rid of all the advertisements and only show the apps you have installed.

I actually don’t mind the ads on my Onn’s. They mostly show me shows that I might otherwise not know so I can look them up and stream them. Same with YT recommendations. So many concerts I was not aware of.

They don’t bother me as I rarely see them. I don’t use any of the Free crapola TV on my ONN or look at any of the suggested TV shows movies or otherwise. MY ONN is strictly a conduit to the apps I choose to install. After opening 99% of the time I’m going into my IPTV service App or KODI so only see the opening screen for like 5 seconds at most

I have used a few things on the free tv that otherwise is paid here. The prime one being Stingray for their jazz station. If my VPN were not set to a USA server, all that goes away and the menu that leads you to it.

I have two of them. One works perfectly

On the one I just bought, it will not connect to my VPN (Mulvad) and worse yet, will not verify playlists to either of the streaming services I use. I suspect it may have something to do with the ports used (55337 and 25461). Both are running Android 14. The new one did an update when I first booted it up.

I am about ready to send it back.

Am I missing a setting somewhere or something?

When my ONN 4K device goes into screensaver mode, the time is correct but, the temperature displayed is not correct for my area. I don’t see on the device settings where to set/change the location. Does anyone know where this is ‘fixed’?

Remember the temperature and time showed will be that of the place your VPN is set to, not your home so the time may be off if not in the same time zone.

MICKI, I purchased the ONN 4K streaming box and I’m here in Mexico and it won’t work. It keeps saying it won’t let me use it in this region anyway to get around it or should I send it back? I’ve heard so many good things about the box. I thought I’d try it

Have a a look through here
