VPNSafetyDot Now Requires Paid Subscription

I nwould rather have the image change to red rather than a red :no_entry_sign: overlay on top of the image. Although, that might be impossible to do? lol

Released a new version on https://vpnprivacydot.com/ with a donate button and new features. Have fun

I like the app, but I think the connected icon should be a little larger. It’s a little too small to be easily seen. I do like the idea the developer is going have shortly where you can change the location of the icon.

Great work and I did want to try this out to see how it worked. I installed it yesterday and it seemed just fine however this morning, it only flashed the red square and my VPN is on. I reinstalled it on my 4k and 4kmax. It seems to be working again on my max but not on the 4k. I wanted to report this as a minor bug, something that can be looked into. Thank you for creating this. The other safety dots work.

Cheers

Thanks John, thanks for the update. Like the small green circle, when vpn is disconcerted the red triangle is larger shows up well.

Thanks for the feedback, I will look into that.

I like the larger red icon, too, but the rather small green icon is just a little too small for these 70-year-old eyes to see clearly and notice. lol

Not a biggie but making green icon a bit more noticeable would be great. Maybe when the location changer comes online that may help.

Why does this dot need to access local files(permissions)?

Good question. I allowed it, but I uninstalled it shortly after.

@TXRon …which dot are you talking about…i didn’t notice that…what i did notice is the great difference in size between the two…

I denied that request and installed with no problems. :no_entry_sign: Didn’t need to know why cause it wasn’t going to happen.

Surfshark defaults to ā€œno permissionsā€, so not sure why the Dot needs access to internal files.

Just a quick note of what I did to try and troubleshoot this. I still don’t know why it turned red but this is what I did to get it going.

  1. Turned off Kill Switch so I could easily monitor the app
  2. Turned off the VPN
  3. Turned it back on
  4. The square was now green so I disconnected, it turned Red as it should, reconnected and back to green.
  5. Put my kill switch back on
Disconnecting the vpn then connecting again made it work. Still no clue why it stopped. I don’t mind testing as in another lifetime I spent years in Systems programming in a multi user, multi tasking OS that the team I was in wrote and get this, it was on an 8086 … It ran CPM the same time so our application programmers could write utilities for the users of the system. Fun times.

I hope the sequence of events to get it working again might give you some insight as to what may have happened or at least let you test it. Thank you again for developing this.
