Vpns knowledge and false positives

So normally when I run a speed test on the 4K firestick without IPVanish connected, I get just over 200mbps. Just now I did a speed test on my phone and it was 614, then a speed test on the stick with IPVanish connected and it was 46.84 and then I have to restart the stick if I disconnect IPVanish bc it severs the Wi-Fi connection (which I am guessing it shouldn’t do) and won’t let it reconnect. After starting again, I ran a test without IPVanish and only got 51.56. WTH! So frustrated. So you can imaging how bad it is when my Wi-Fi is only getting 60mbps to start with. Any thoughts welcomed. Thx

The great mystery of the speed test results.

I just typed this in another thread so i pasted here…

“Oddly enough my onn 4k three rooms away is getting better vpn wifi speeds than my onn 4k pro 20 feet from the router. I can get into the 90Mbps on the reg and about 70 Mbps on the pro on the exact same ipvanish server. I max out at 120 Mps on my Nvidia shield next to the onn 4k reg.” ××End quote××

I was using Analiti. By the way my max speed without the vpn is about 120Mbps so the Nvidia seems to get the full force every so often.

I found the best way to get the fastest speed results is to select a server from the closest city to your location and picking one that has a low ping and load %.

But i always say only to worry about the speed results if you are having issues such as buffering with your streaming. Depending on which speed tester you use will also change your results as well. Some will give you amazing speeds and some will have you look like a dial up connection when using a vpn.

Interesting, I usually get close to the same speeds no matter what device or speed test I use. Perhaps because I don’t use a VPN? I just googled speed Test and tested the top 3 search results. My results down were 370 Mbps, 366, and 371

My non vpn results are all similar. Its the vpn results by device i was referring to.

Yeah, I am having issues with extreme buffering at times which is why I would like to find a way to resolve this. If I can get RD links, I will sometimes not use the vpn, but many of the things I watch don’t come up with many, if any RD links, so I use the vpn. I wish I had money to buy a bigger/better box but I just don’t at the moment. I also wish that I had the ability to focus enough to learn more about how all of this works and why I get 200mbps at times and only 40-50 at times. The issue is that when I use the vpn, it brings it down to less than 10 and that is an issue.

Were you speaking of extreme as a verb or is a noun as the name of the IPTV service

If you call IPVanish on the phone u can easily make a deal. I’ve done it twice and got a deal both times. It’s a guy from Indian but I understood him and he was great
