I am wondering if there is either an add-on to TiviMate, or a better solution for recording. I have an nVidia Shield TV Pro P2571. While I did upgrade it to a Samsung Evo 970 or 980, I can’t recall which, I don’t like to do local recording. My router, allows for NAS, and as such, I have a 4Tb Samsung Evo Pro 990 attached to it. I am running a Y adapter, or OTG cable, powered by a 100W GaN charger to power the external drive and then connecting to the router, so power is not an issue. I routinely clear cache in all my apps and add-ons. I have the latest software and firmware, and yes, the external storage was correctly partitioned and formatted using the paid version of Mini Partition Tool. If I had to bet, it is a TiviMate issue, so app issue, not software, hardware, or firmware related. Also, I have three IPTV services, all with two connections so I can watch and record at the same time. Playback from recordings that did record is also an issue, and I tried 4, maybe 5 different players. My SMB is username and password protected, and storage access has been properly configured. Other apps record or store to external and play properly. I am also using SurfShark VPN. Additionally, none of the records in question are longer than an hour in length. I hope to avoid going into great detail as to the category, but I will say I’ve been married for 20 years and have two kids, so I’ll let you play Carmen SanDiego and figure that part out on your own. I hope that I have answered any questions in advance, by providing a plethora of information. Thank you for your time and patience!
I have seen mentioned on many occasion on Reddit, Discord and some other forums that Tivimate is not the best player when it comes to recording.
Users seem to have more success with Sparkle and less failed recordings compared to TM.
I don’t really record or use the Sparkle player so not actually sure how well it performs.
I have a 2019 Shield Pro that I used and it recorded flawlessly. I set it up to record to a Samsung EVO SSD. I recorded daily shows for the wife. The real problem is buffering. Any major buffering and the recording gets interrupted. Luckily I rarely get any buffering. I moved on to the Buzz P6L.
There are a lot more posts here about your issue. Use the search and read, read, read, you may just find a solution.
Sparkle much better for recording, in app mode. But it’s all about the stream . Miki absolutely correct, doesn’t matter, if the stream buffers, then most all payers will fail.
Ok, I don’t have any buffering issues. I have the highest speed internet available, and I am masquerading as the AT&T modem with a custom setup, so they can’t throttle me even. I downloaded Sparkle, and I selected app mode. Everything seems to be good, but how can I stop it from playing the last channel upon opening app? I find that ridiculous and annoying. That would do me I think. Thanks to all!
