Do you recommend rooting a device?? If so, is it complicated to do so? Are there any negatives associated with rooting a device??
Only for experienced users or those who like to tweak. Root is full system access. You can install anything you like(risky) install custom roms, kernels(upgrade), cpu modification, get full access to google play store(no restrictions). My fav is full access to explorer. Install any widget you like. Basically its yours you own it, do as you please and its also yours to brick if you dont know what your doing. You will also void waranty when you gain this type access.

With the Ugoo AM6-B it comes with an on/off switch for root. Does that mean you can toggle between root and unroot? So you can do what you want with access, or widgets, etc, and then switch back to non-rooted?
That’s my understanding but wont know till I try it. It comes with Magisk as the switcher and that apk is avail to dl. I tried it on my mecool box and couldnt get it to work although I only tried once and stopped fearing I would brick the box and couldnt sell it.

I believe that is the case. I have an older Magicsee box with root switch that simply allows you to turn it on or off. Ugoos boxes utilIze Magisk, which has a certain procedure for rooting your box. I like the advantages and flexibility a rooted box offers. Suggest you look at online or utube videos on how to root your device safely without bricking your device. I have set up a new topic on this and requested input from our experts here at Troypoint.

Will do, but I will wait until TXRon gets his new toy and plays around with it doing that on/off root feature. Then if he doesn’t throw the thing out onto the street. Then I will attempt it…maybe? LOL

Well I ordered the ugoos ut8 pro today supposed to be here the 16 th I guess I will have to play with the pro4 my friend sent me got it today hope all goes well might be looking for some help
