Ugoos SK1 Android Box Review 128GB Storage & 8GB RAM

One of the cool things about the AM6 and AM8 series of Ugoos boxes is the metal casing, which really does a great job of heat dispersement, even without a cooling fan. While I love the appearance of the SK1, a metal casing for it would be the icing on the cake.

Hey Miki, had a fan hooked up to mine, it was about 45°c idle and 50-55 when watching a movie.
Sold it a few weeks ago, now i miss it lol.
On the lookout for a new box now, will wait and see what new devices appear.

Ethernet on both.

I will add modern processors will be fine at 40-65 degrees for normal use and for heavy use 80-85 degrees.

The big problem is that the wife wants her YouTubeTV to work like all the Android TV boxes. I am a techie so I do not really care myself. But happy wife…The Slimbox may be what I would need. I will look into that. Any tips or tricks appreciated.

This is a good YouTube video of SlimBox on an SK1

You can download youtube for android tv on the slimbox firmware and it is the android tv version. Or keep the ugoos firmware on and use projevtivy launcher as your main launcher and download youtube for android tv from aurora store, just spoof an android tv device in auroa.
Or you can use smarttube and sign in to that.

Thanks for the options. It is YouTubeTV app I need for the wife. I already have smarttube, not the same.

Waipu.tv box with latest Amlogic S905X5M SoC.
I wonder if Ugoos will be releasing a device with this SoC

Im hoping they release a s905x5 device as that is the better soc.

Yes it is more powerful but there doesn’t seem to be much news about it.
I think it was released in 2023.

Its the big brother of the s905x5m, there is a vodafone android box out but that will be similar to the one you mentioned.
Hopefully ugoos announce one at hong kong.

But the S905x5 seems to be less powerful than the S928 in the SK1 so it would appear the only benefit would be maybe better upscaling etc. or a lower price but I don’t think it would be that much lower for sale shoppers. Ugoos’ prices seem to be higher across the board for each processor due to their build quality, support with firmware, and trust in no malware. It will be interesting to see what shows up on Aliexpress/Alibaba.

It supports newer codecs, wait and see proper benchmarks when a device gets released and fully tested.

The latest Ugoos devices support all the codecs you need for streaming.
I can’t think of one they don’t support that’s relevant tbh.

In this game i always gotta have more lol.

Not to mention adoption of codecs happens at a glacial pace because of all of the legacy devices in use. h.264 is from 2003-2004 and is still everywhere.

No, ive never wanted one due to them been locked down, i prefer to tinker with the boxes.

Note: Posts to this subject, Ugoos SK, 1 should not be relating to other devices. Those should be entered in a separate subject and posts.
