Ugoos SK1 Android Box Review 128GB Storage & 8GB RAM

Wow, that is kinda high. I’m usually around 37. :grimacing:

Mine has never run below 42, even with the fan running full speed. Right now it’s at 43C.

Hi Miki. As you are aware, I put some ventilation holes on the bottom and rear of my SK1, then added a usb ventilation fan underneath, with the airflow blowing from top to bottom, which keeps the processor at a steady 36-38 degrees Celsius.

Ya I read your post about the holes. That’s why I was curious about your temps. I have my fan blowing up onto the unit from underneath but still have temps around 50. I’ll flip my fan over so it draws air from up to down under the unit and see if that helps. From my experience 50+temps have caused electronic degredation and GPU issues. So I may have to try your hole drilling fix for more air flow and cooling. Reall would like to get it down to 40.

10-4 good buddy. The key is to carefully use a metal wedge to gently get the rear of the box separated from the top then gently pull the top up and off before disconnecting the power light cord. Then simply unscrew and take out the mother board, then drill your holes, doing small pilot holes before using a bigger bit.

Still sounds warmer than it should be. I haven’t made any holes but I do have 2 fans on it. The fan it’s sitting on is blowing upward and I remain pretty steady between 37-39. I do keep the room temperature around 19°C. By any chance @Miki are you still trying to get those Mexican temperatures up here in Canada.

Same setup as mine. I do have my settings turned on for max cpu and gpu performance so that maybe causing excessive heat. However after doing some research it’s supposed to handle temps from 70-75 without breaking a sweat . :sweat_drops:

I agree and think it is my favorite box right now. If something really shiny comes along my tinkerer side might make me purchase something.

The only real upgrades for me would be a tangible improvement in upscaling since I watch lots of older content and maybe a true 64-bit OS for improved gaming/emulation.

While it has a 64 bit chip the OS is only 32 bit.

I know and it doesn’t really hurt most applications, but a 64-bit OS would definitely help gaming and emulation.

Mine stays around 45-55°C while actively streaming and I don’t have a fan or do anything special, just keep it so there is natural airflow. I haven’t noticed any problems.

I guess I’m used to boxes gelling warm, I hat one of the original “hotplate” AppleTVs and it ran hot. Our cold natured cat use to love sleeping/sitting on it.

Oh absolutely and we questioned Ugoos regarding just that. Their answer was they don’t intend on releasing a 64 bit os for the SK1.

Just to let you know I have the max performance thing on too.

Minix has said the same about their boxes. I guess no one sees enough market to be worth the trouble.

Are you guys using WiFi or ethernet? Maybe the WiFi is contributing to heat buildup? I’m on ethernet.

I have mine on ether as well. Ok gotta jet. TTFN.

I don’t think Ugoos or Minix are interested in gaming devices because as mentioned there is probably no market for them.
They definitely aim their devices at streamers though…

My am8 runs 40-41 degrees Celsius
Max performance enabled no fan…
