Ugoos SK1 ...A new line from UGOOS

I didn’t load the update since it is in beta and always take a bit of time for user feedback before doing so. Glad I did here and thanks for the tip. :+1:

TV Box Stop full review of the SK 1 is now on UTube. Nick has rated this as the best overall premium android box for 2024, with the caviat that it is essentially tied with the AM8 pro in terms of performance. His Antutu benchmark test score came in at 309,000, placing it at #5 on his chart.

If you look at his antutu and benchmark test, there is so little between the AM8, tha AM8 Pro and the SK1.

Particularly on Ram read and write speeds. So litlle between 4gb and 8 gb ram.

what type ram is in that box? ddr4 or lpddr4? or 5

LPDDR4 8GB . But i am trying to understand why the ram speeds are so close to the AM 8. As indeed he mentioned in his written review.

This article, extracted from a tech guru, gave me food for thought:

Here is just one example of the difference.

Quote:
Know that 32-bit systems are limited to 4GB of RAM, while 64-bit systems can support much more.
With 64-bit systems, you can have over 16 billion GB of RAM, which is more than any current computer needs. This is important for memory-intensive tasks like video editing or gaming. Unquote.

The boxes are very similar overall. My complaint would be the plastic housing on a ugoos box at that price. In general for streaming 4gb’s is all you really need and 8gb is just showing off :joy:… cool looking box tho.

Yep. Even the new Minix 8k box is plastic. I prefer the metal container.

Your conclusions are spot on. As a matter of taste, I do prefer the looks of the SK 1 and the improved functionality of the remote. Having virtually the same specs, (except the RAM and internal memory), performance and more functional metal case make a compelling case for the AM8 Pro however. No regrets at all about getting the SK 1, but wouldn’t pay more than the price at the Mini PC Store for it.

Glad you are enjoying it. The ram specs might show 8gb, but tvboxstop review quite clearly said, there was little or no difference in ram speeds, between the AM8 versions and the SK1.

Hence my previous post regarding 32 and 64 bit devices and ram capability.

Nope, I’m not criticising your post, nor the SK1. Merely pointing out some info on Ram.

I’m still waiting on a Chigz review.

I’m still waiting on a BuzzTV P6 box review! You’d think by now people would have had them long enough to (at least) post thoughts…

Noticed one other thing in TV Box Stop’s review. For those who even care, Netflix is certified for up to 1080p on the SK 1, making it the only device apart from FireCube in the top 10 to have any permissions higher than 480p.
