Do you plug it right into usb on box ? Thanks buddy
Yes. You can plug the fan directly into a usb port. Or you can add the small remote and connect that to the usb cable on the fan, and then plug the remote usb into the box.
If you have to buy fans for a box then perhaps you are buying the wrong box.just saying. I have 2 seven year old T95Z Plus boxes and 2 ONN Boxes running strong. No fan needed.
You can find that and other AC Infinity usb connected fans at Amazon. They usually have multi-speed and on/off switches.
Glad it works for you but for most, that ain’t quite the case. Some of us just want to keep our processors on our devices running a bit cooler, along with extending their lifespan, particularly when smaller processor heat sinks or lack of vents could be an issue at some point. A processor should not be operating at a constant temperature over 50 degrees Celsius long term if you want a box you really like to last. Fan ventilation adds that extra protection.
After years of daily use my nVidia Shield Pro has gotten a tad heat sensitive. I get the odd problem with page transition and lockup. It only happens when the temp in my house gets around 75-80 F. So I added a fan to help the old girl out. Problem solved. Love the multi speeds and man it’s quiet. So quiet I forget to shut it off. The Shields internal fan I always have on hi as well. I think nVidia hit the nail on the head with an internal fan.
Really? Am I to believe that I’m an Outlier and most need fans? Where is the data to support this statement? This cannot be true! I have 2 7 year old T95Z Plus Boxes that I’ve never shut off and still work fine. Why would you make this statement that most need Fans! Ugh!
Sorry @Miki there is simply NO room for Fans in this Hobby. As I said if you need a fan you bought the wrong Box!
Are you saying the nVidia Shield Pro is the wrong box? It comes with a fan built in. Been praised as the best. Server farms have huge cooling plants. Heat is the enemy of electronics and computing. Desktop tower cases have built in fans and often ppl add more. Some even have liquid cooling systems. Not much different than a radiator in a car with a fan assist for cooling. Lots of data out there with research. But it’s all good. This is why we have choices. So freedom to choose is cool.
If you have a Built in Fan all good but you should not need to drill holes or add an external fan to your Box. THIS is not Normal. If you have to resort to these measures your box is defective IMO. Glad your box has a built in fan for you but not needed in my case
Oh I didn’t say it was needed in your case. That certainly may be so. Just saying the Shield has one built in and well not to be rude but I trust nVidia knows better than you what’s best for their devices.
100% Agree if Nvidia thinks you need a fan who am I to question that? And if the Cheap China Box makers think you don’t then I agree with that as well.
Oh absolutely. 100%. Unfortunately, in my case, some of my installations have unfortunately, not allowed me to place my devices in a suitable location so that they get adequate air flow. So to ensure the built in cooling fins have had enough air flow to do their job I had to add fans to get adequate air flow.
You guys are Killing me! LOL
I just checked for conversion and 50 degrees Celsius is 122 degrees Fahrenheit. I won’t speak for anyone but myself here but there is no way I want my electronics running that hot.
Whose electronics are running that hot @sim_bill? I’m pretty sure my shield pro isn’t but honestly never installed an app to check, but I’d be surprised if it is.
The average daily temperature in my country is 35° C. And reaches a peak of 41/42 in the hot season.
So a fan is great for keeping my box at around 38 as opposed to a lot higher than I like.
AIDA 64 app has a thermal reading monitor for just about every box out there and the Ugoos boxes have a hardware monitor where the processor temperature can be displayed. Some of the cheaper Chinese made boxes I’ve had, (R.I.P.) got to temps as high as the mid 60’s Celsius. That is when I got turned on to cooling fans.
