News flashâŠAfter installing the latest update on the AM9, I have noticed an actual uptick in picture contrast and clarity while watching tv and movies on my LG Oled. I didnât change or alter ANY of my picture settings. Nice job on this update by Ugoos. In checking back on the upgrade release, Ugoos upgraded the HDR to 12 bit and fixed the AI picture quality, which was causing software issues on some tv brands.
Great news. Thank you for letting us know.
Just received my Ugoos AM9, now need to plug this puppy in and set it up, ![]()
Very Solid box. MInes on ethernet so it may not LOOK so hot without those sweet âAn-tennaâsâ but it sure runs good.
So got this box all setup with my streaming apps, One question about the mouse toggle, when I toggle the mouse on, itâs all over the place, very jerky, is there a setting to adjust this, also the power light, I need to turn this off or down, have not found a way to do this. Everything that I needed to load from troyponts tool box all worked great, fast internet speed wired or wireless. so far great book, love it
@PapaS thanks for this guide, will give this a try, I found out how to turn off the power blue light
in the power settings
After doing some tweaking on my settings, it looks best with the auto setting on for noise reduction, the resolution setting on high with the picture quality on low. Even on with the picture quality on medium & after the 2.0.4 update I still get that fluctuating contrast on certain lighting scenes & it is as if somebody stole the remote & is throttling the contrast control up and down depending on the lighting & colors in the scenes. This was the best result I got using the settings that I set them to. My Sony 90 series has HDR 10 (not plus) & Dolby Vision & is 120hz. It really doesnât do anything for those really old shows like bewitched or Jeffersons as I caught in to those while tuning around on the TV to see what worked best. For 720 & up though it does an awesome job improving picture quality especially notable on live football games or newer tech video technology. Since most of the programming is in 720 from services this is a huge plus with this box to get really great picture quality. I got the premium for the iMPlayer & it is excellent but I have noticed some buffering at times which I believe is partly do to the draw from providers on games, but TiviMate rolled well even on lowest buffer setting when iMPlayer did buffer even with raising the buffer ahead on the same channel & service. Why this crazy thing is happening I have no clue but did buffer on different services. I believe it is something they need to work on to get it to roll better. I do notice the iMPlayer does a better job overall for picture quality using the same Exo Player. Thanks a bunch for all your thoughts & insights on the AM9 as I am extremely happy with it. Having all the extra settings on the newer Android 14 is a huge plus also, & the ability to click on letters/numbers with a mouse to select them with being able to hold the X to clear out things in address bar is also freaking sweet! Miki will be proud to hear also that that junk Formuler BT3 remote will work this AM9 perfectly! I tried the BT1 & it wonât recognize the ok/select button which basically renders it useless on the AM9. The BT3 will recognize the square buttons also & the blue favorites box button will immediately put a channel being watched in full screen in to favorites or remove it from there running iMPlayer. I havenât fully tested everything but the top volume buttons will also control my soundbar but weirdly it wonât show the change on the tv, only the soundbar itself. The original Ugoos remote will show changes on both the tv & my soundbars display. If you use the side volume buttons it will show up on the tv. Works great though from the top volume buttons on that BT3 though so it makes a great spare, and number buttons work great when entering things to keep from having to change keyboard out when needed. After connecting it to the Bluetooth on the AM9 I was very happy to learn this remote works well on it.
Sounds like you have really mastered the AM9. In addition to the great hardware quality and specs, this device is almost heaven for enthusiasts who like a the greatest amount of options and settings. As far as any buffering you may be experiencing, that is due solely to either your iptv service, your internet or both. Most of the folks who get the AM9 or the SK1 and learn to set them up correctly are very satisfied with them. I ended up getting a second AM9 for when I am on the road traveling.
Ok everyone, looks like I am a little over my head with the setting on my Ugoos AM9, on my first TV that I hooked this on (Hisense 55â) the volume control on the AM9 remote did control the volume for the tv, It worked in TiviMate, but on Netflix, Amazon, Stremio, the sound was blasting and the only way to turn it down was with the original Hisense remote.I then hooked this up to my Sharp 65â older tv with a sound bar hooked to the TV via a Optical cable. Got this working but not controling the sound bar or powering on the TV, it will turn off the TV ok. So I tried to find the setting to turn off the TV but still no luck, I also fooled around with the volume again and lost the ability to turn up or down the volume, have to use the sound bar remote. I have read that you should only do one adjustment at a time to see what that adjustment has did or not did.
So if someone can direct me in the following areas I would really appreciate it
1 - how do I control or activate my sound bar using the Ugoos remate, also do I need to disconnect the optical cable from the TV and connect it to the AM9?
2 - How do I control the power on and off with the AM9 remote.
Going to take is slow slow until I understand the power of all the setting
Does your soundbar have HDMI? Does the tv? If so go from ugoos to HDMI 1, soundbar plug into the eARC or ARC on the tv. Go into ugoos settings and look for CEC and make sure it is on. Restart everything and pair your remote and go Into the remote settings and look through your options. You should now be able to control the soundbar as connected to TV via optical you canât but via HDMI and CEC on you should have control.
@Miki Thanks for the reply, yes my sound bar has HDMI in and HDMI out and an optical port that is hooked up to my Sharp TV, my TV has 3 HDMI ports. So this is how I would connect this up
1 - Ugoos HDMI into the IN HDMI on the sound bar, then Out HDMI on the sound bar to my TV (eARC or ARC) how do I tell or find the eARC or ARC on my TV? or is it one of the HDMI ports?
2 restart everything (UGOOS, TV and SOUND BAR
3 - Do i have to repair my UGOOS remote as itâs already paired to my UGOOS
Sorry for all the questions,
@Miki Hey Mike, looks like my TV is old as I took a look at the back to see all my 3 HDMI ports and not one says eARC or ARC, also in the menu setup nothing about eARC or ARC
Other than connecting your soundbar hdmi input to the eArc hdmi out port on your smart tv, I have no idea what to do on any older set without a dedicated eArc port. You would have to use the optical ports for sound. As far as the AM9, I have to set the maximum upper end volume level I am comfortable with on my tv or soundbar remote, then adjust the Ugoos UR2 remote volume control within that limit. Sounds a bit strange but it works. I also find that in certain rare cases, if I am using a particular IPTV player, I can only control the volume up or down with my tv or soundbar remote. This is the case when the volume on these apps turns on too loud and I have to turn it down.
@sim_bill Morning, looks like I have found back my sound setting on my AM9 to get the volume back showing on the tv screen so now I can use my AM9 remote instead of my sound bar remote, took some time to find the correct setting. I also fooled around and now have my AM9 remote somewhat turning my tv off when pushing the power button (I think it turns off the AM9 box as the power light for the tv is still on but the tv screen is black) when I push the power button again the AM9 home screen comes on, so I am good with that now. Going forward, anymore tweaking with the setting is going to be one tweak at a time.
Time to splurge and get a newer TV.

@Miki would love that, but need one of my 3 to break down first ![]()
Just got the 75â TCL QM7K for $800 off ($1,200) at Best Buy for the family room. Too good to pass up.some of these TVs are selling for less now than they were on Black Friday.
So was fooling around on my AM9 and tried to see if I could connect my iPhone to it. Selected Airsscreen app that came with is box and got this error message. Anyone else get this message when running this app I was seeing if I could control my AM9 with my phone like I can in Google TV need to copy and paste my playlist into Tivimate but this app will not do this, what is everyone using to do this as typing this out on the keyboard screen is hard to do
I donât use any app like AirScreen on any of my streaming devices but if you have GooglePlay Protect turned on, turn it off as that will sometimes interfere with open source non-official apps. Otherwise, I have no clue on what you can do, other than download the âofficialâ version off Google PlayStore.
