Funny! But back to the AM9 topic for a moment. After almost 3 weeks of using the AM9, I switched back to my PS6 Unlimited on my LG 65” Oled to again compare the video quality. It can be confirmed that the AM9 has the better picture quality. Whether it is live tv, movies or tv series, the AM9, with it’s new processor, AI and Amlogic upscaling, has a visibly crisper, more detailed, higher resolution picture on just about every streaming source than the PS6. One would think that at least double the price of the AM9, the PS6 would at least rival its video quality. It doesn’t even come close on 720 or 1080p streams with upscaling.

The thing is I play HDR10 and 10+ almost exclusively on the P6L as well as 4K and unless I am mistaken they can’t be upscaled. So not playing 720 or 1080 makes upscaling a mute point IMHO.

Im in , ordered a Am9 and will be here Sunday. Im looking forward to upgrading my friends and family with a box that will work fantastic. It’s kind of expensive as I have several tvs to update including a projector but It’s better than paying for all the other services that cost alot more. Thanks for the tutorial and all feedback from the cord cutters. It’s time to ditch my couple of Shield pros and onns. They were absolutely amazing but all good things come to an end and time to move on.

Hello, any quick tips to get going or anything that may make a difference right away. I’ve been cord cutting for 10 years and tried alot of boxes. The shield was great and the onn was very reliable. Buzz and mecool sucked in my opinion. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I will go along with MeCool sucked. I just dumped my MeCool KM7+. What a piece of junk. Never performed right. Always freezing up and restarting. Then the update to Android 14 made it worse. Finally got fed up enough to dump it. Bought an Onn 4K Pro. For the price and performance, it is a good buy.

I’ve even tried a a formular z11 pro and was not impressed. Not try to sway anyone to try but try for yourself. I do think ugoos may be the future when google stops sideloading.
@Rocker69 I’m thinking that since the Ugoos AM9 is still fairly new, it’s going to a learn as you go. Kinda like the early days of the Fire stuff. As time goes on, and more folks get one there will be a lot more tribal knowledge to be shared. I haven’t check youtube to see if there are any videos out yet but figure as the box becomes more popular that there should be more info on the ins and outs.
I don’t have one yet but one will be coming my way sooner or later. In my current world, the Shield Pro still rocks my boat and still shoots my ONN pro and Plus out of the water. My 2 cents for what that’s worth these days

Troy’s full review on the AM9 should give you just about all the info you need to know about the AM9, especially how the AI upscaling works with the S905X5 processor. As long as you are willing to learn how to install apps on the stock android O/S and customize this device to your liking, you will definitely like it. Incidently, the Amazon seller from Delaware for the AM9 currently has a $27 off coupon for the AM9, bringing the price down to $153.

I am gonna give buzz another try also, just for the heck it. Looking for a affordable box for friends and family that will work good enough for streaming only. It’s worth a try . I think , LOL

Can’t say I have any experience with the AM9, but I have a couple of skylinker Z8 plus boxes.
I like them because they are a hybrid box. There are 2 versions or maybe 3.
Mine are both sat and FTA and IPTV and both run android 14. I can’t say that I have any issues with ver 14 as they just play what I want.
reason I went for them is because I use local FTA at times so it is easier for it to be all in one spot especially when using a dumb screen.
Have a mecool KT1 and 2 and they just shut down sometimes for the hell of it and it’s never consistent. It’s not heat related as neither are in high temp areas, so it may be android version.
I think the KT2 is 14 but not sure as it isn’t hooked up at the moment and KT1 is lower maybe 12??
My MeCool Km7+ was doing the exact same thing. Shutting done randomly for no apparent reason. It never happened until the Android 14 OS system update. I have since dumped it for an Onn4kPro, which works flawlessly with Android 14. So it is a MeCool OS system problem. I will not own another MeCool product.
