TvQuickActions App

Is anyone using this app? This free app makes Google TV so much better | TechHive

I have a Google TV. The remote does not have any buttons to stop, pause, fast forward etc. This app claims to provide those features.

Are you talking about the new ā€œLiveā€ button displayed on the home page UI. I have not really messed with it too much, but it does not have any FF/RW or pause. It does have CC

I don’t believe remapping any button would create a function that isn’t coded in the app.

I tried the FF/RW and pause buttons on my Shield remote and my Samsung TV remote and none of them worked.

However, you can record using the Shield Pro’s recording feature and then be able FF/RW and pause.

I tried asking about this months ago, no replies.

@Powerfader. ā€œLiveā€ button on the home screen takes me to a bunch of free TV channels. I have no ability with the Google TV remote to rewind or fast forward fhem. I’m not sure if Live offers that feature with any remote.

If I read the above article correctly, the TVQuickAction app will allow me to configure buttons on the remote to give that capability if say I am watching a movie with another app like Stremio or CinemaHD. The only other alternative seems to be to use the OK button in the ring on the remote or the ring itself to produce commands, but that is cumbersome.

I’ll try the instructions in the article over the weekend and see how it goes.

On Stremio while watching a movie or series you can always fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, restart with the buttons on a remote without needing to special map any.

I seriously doubt that remapping any buttons to do tasks that are not already coded within the app will work.

I tried using the FF. RW, and pause buttons on my Shield remote and my TV’s remote and they did nada.

However, if you mean that an app does indeed have these functions coded within the playback. Then probably yes they could work.

Although, as Miki just posted. If the app in question does have FF, RW, and Pause as a feature within the playback of their proprietary player app. Then most likely these features will be displayed on the playback’s UI and you would really have no need to remap any buttons to be able to utilize those features, because they will be already present on the screen.

So, unless, you just want to remap a few buttons. Then go for it. Otherwise, it is really not necessary.

I believe you are confusing a remotes capabilities vs an apps capability. All remotes will have these buttons, but all apps may not have the ability to FF, RW, or pause.

In other words, the ā€œLive Google TVā€ app does not contain the ability to FF, RW, or pause, and until they upgrade their app to do so. Then no FF, RW, Pause button on any remote remapped or not will work.

Yes this works and here’s a video so you can see for yourself before trying it
https://odysee.com/@DAButcherStreamingMatters:f/tv-quick-actions-button-remapper-for-2:d there are 3 videos. at least for the shield and ONN remotes this app works perfectly

I watched all 3 videos and nowhere does it demonstrate remapping button to be FF, RW, or pause. Even if it did, which I am certain the is app can do, then if the player app does not have the FF, RW, and pause functions coded into the app. Then that app cannot be FF, RW, or paused!

The function must exist within the player app itself. Then yes you can remap a button to work, but if the function is not there. Then I don’t care if you remap the entire remote control it will never be able to FF, RW, or Pause, because those functions do not exist within the player app’s capabilities.

That would be like me changing the keys to a Honda Civic to that of a Ferrari and then my car becomes a Ferrari…not gonna happen! Either the player app contains those features to FF, RW, and Pause or it doesn’t. If those features are there then most likely those features would also be visibly seen on the UI screen.

I checked several apps and all the ones that have some sort of a FF, RW, Pause feature would work using my Shield’ remotes function keys. If a FF, RW, or Pause feature is not on a particular app. Then no matter how hard I press those buttons on my remote will not make it work. The player app MUST have those features coded into the app for them to work.

Btw, that Live Google TV app is a bit glitchy.

I don’t know what people are remapping this video just explains the capabilities of remapping buttons and I don’t care for it that much I just change to quick launch my apps all that extra ish doesn’t make sense to me

That’s the reason for his post. He wants the features of FF, RW, and Pause for an app that does not have those features coded into the player as denoted in the screenshots.

I am always amazed at those who want to fast forward ā€œliveā€ TV. I’d be a rich man. FF a football game, see who wins and place my bet. Yowsa.

Little wonder people get POd sometimes when they ask for advice. All I did was ask if someone has tried TVQuickActions. First reply I got was to ask if it relates to Live. I replied NO…I want to use it for apps like Stremio and Cinema. Now I’m being called out for wanting to rewind live TV. Where did that come from*ā€˜ā€™$&+(??

Then I’m told ALL remotes have FF and RW. As I said in my post, I use a Google TV with no buttons like that. No FS, no Nvidia, no nothing. Just a Google TV set. Please show me.

If my image goes through, not the case.

So one more time, if my goal is to reprogram the 3 bottom buttons using TVQuick… has anyone done it following the instructions in the link i posted originally.

I did ask. Don’t ask again!

Spend the $4 bucks and find out.
