TV colour and contrast

I’m not sure if this is appropriate but I figure you all watch a lot of TV so someone might have experienced this.

So my family were watching Netflix and all of a sudden the colours went wild. (See provided pictures) Strange thing is it’s only in the video, still images are text are okay. I tried restarting the TV and resetting the picture. Also tried my Android box and it’s the same. Do I need a new TV?

Time for a new TV?

I was afraid of that

Hey wallyworld has great deals on new tv’s..65-75 inch for 3-400US…i spend that on beer…lol

Looks like you’re trying to watch Dolby Vision content on a non-compatible TV. Usually Netflix would choose the right steam. You did turn off the TV and anything connected to it and unplug from the outlet for 5 minutes or so and try turning it back on, right? If that doesn’t fix it then yes, you need a new TV.

I did turn it off and back on. I’ll try your suggestion next. Thanks!

Turning it off and unplugging it did the trick. Thanks much!

Figures… TVs are just glorified computers these days!!!

We were watching a tv series via Umbrella (premiumize.me) and the picture was horrible. Lots of pink, orange grass, etc. After the program was over, switched back to Youtube tv and all was fine. Don’t get it. Will try watching the next episode tonight and see what happens.

Go in the Umbrella settings and filter out Dolby Vision streams. If you don’t have an HDR compatible TV, filter that out as well.

Thanks Jayhawks659, There are so many categories in settings, I could not find the one you mention. Could you specifically guide me to that setting? Also, I would ask you advice on selecting English only. I have that selected, but frequently get my selections in foreign language.

I finally was able to find a link that was in English and the picture colors spot on. Had to try several links to find the right one.

Thanks, Jayhawks659. Watched the video a few years ago. Time to view it again…

This is clever TV technology.

100% But it’s still a few years away from showing up in a reasonable size TV set for home viewing and a few more years after that before it’s at a competitive price point.

Interesting but I’m not sure how seamless those modules would be in a non-sterile environment.
