Troypoint Toolbox Issues

Troy, thanks for the suggestion. I uninstalled Dowloader. Full reboot of the FireStick. Brought it back up. Downloaded and installed Downloader. 250931. Wait 5 sec. … 403 error. :frowning: This device is currently on SWV 8.1.0.6 & Home ver G072JM0734240B5G

Not a big issue for me. I can download to Windows, use a USB stick & an OTG y-cable to get files from TP-TB easily. Just puzzling that 3 other 4K Max devices work great. This one… not so much. I’m only using a Firestick these days for travel, as the built-in Silk browser is much more reliable for logging into hotel Wi-Fi at Hilton hotels.

This was a box reset so there were no updates.

If that uninstall updates button is there I would still try that. It might not be there if no updates have been applied.

Thanks for the video Troy. I helped a neighbor this AM that was experiencing the same error. Clearing “DATA” in Google Play Store did not work, nor did rolling back update. What worked was going into Developer Options and disabling Force Apps into External Storage. Once that was changed, the Google Play Store updated WebView. I then reverted the Force Apps to External Storage, and all worked well. I am only guessing, but forcing an Android System App to External Storage may have been the issue. Just my $0.02 and one more possibility for others that may experience issues with the 403-Forbidden error.

I checked for that this morning and again now when I got back from shopping and it is not there. I also checked Boostmeisters tip, but again no joy.

So, I don’t give up easily. This morning, I did another factory reset on the M9 box. Then after hooking up to Wi-Fi and putting in my Google ID, the first thing I did was to go update WebView. To my surprise, the update went through. I downloaded Downloader from the Play Store and then went to the toolbox and no forbidden error!

Thanks to everyone here for their patience and helping me get through this!

Hi Troy
Today is 11/04/2025 and are building the new ONN 4k Pro. Went into downloader to get the troypoint-toolbox using the 250931 code and are getting a “404 Forbidden”. Then attempted the optional “ troypoint(dot)com/tb and are getting the same error.
Am I missing something here. Have never had an issue loading the Toolbox before on some 9 Onn boxes and three firesticks here.

Appreciate anyone’s advice or steps to correct this. All my Onn settings per your instructions have been applied.

Thank You
Jeffrey

@jericho777, good :person_raising_hand: to see ya again, so Troy has a video in this thread further up, around 115 or so, have you tried that yet?….

Followed your instructions. Disabled force apps. Then deleted data in google play store. Rebooted my device. Enabled Force Apps and was able to get the troy toolbox. Didn’t have an external storage, but this procedure worked.

Thank You Boostmaster

Glad to hear that it worked. I’m surprised that Force Apps was enabled if you didn’t have any external storage. Oh well, as long as you are back in business. I think this has to do with forcing a “system” app to external storage when the Android Operating System expects to find the app in the root memory.

Thank you in kind, you put me on the right track. Was disabling rebooting trouble shooting for at least 2 hrs and thought to check in with y’all and bingo bong dancing around the bon fires paid off.
I loaded three other Onn 4k Pros for family and not a single issue arose knocking on wood, got to the last one and got road blocked.

Sure enough appreciate ya and Thanks Bunch’s.

I’m not too savvy, on ONN 4K PRO, I disabled “force allow apps on external” but still get 403 error on downloader when I try 250931

Did you reboot your device afterwards?
I disabled forced allow apps. Then rebooted my device and was able to retrieve the toolbox.

Trying to set up new ONN 4K Plus with Steamio. When you enter the code for toolbox (250931) in downloader I get message 403 - Forbidden. Anyone else had this problem recently? Any ideas, I did turn off play protect. Using Express VPN not Surfshark, not sure if that would matter as it worked for KODI install previously.

Thanks

Just received the same message

Working just fine for me. If using SurfShark turn off the cleanweb feature and try again.
