TeaTV Player Solution

I came across this closed thread looking for a solution to show subtitles in TeaTV. TP Player will not play them. TeaTV APK Problems - What Am I Missing?

I found this solution on the internet, using MX Player. First step was to uninstall TP Player from the Stick. Then I searched TeaTV as usual for the foreign language show. I chose the stream to play, and received 3 choices: choose “Copy to clipboard”.

Then open MX Player, and click on the 3 buttons on top right of the screen. Open “Network Stream” and the URL link from Clipboard will be visible there. Click OK and the video will start to play. If MX just spins, choose another stream on TEA. When MX starts to play, pause the video, go back to the 3 dots, click on “Subtitle”, click Open or Online Subtitles, and go from there.

If no subtitles can be found, use Silk browser to find and download the subtitle files to the Stick. Then use ES Explorer to move the files to the subtitles folder on the Stick, so MX can find them.

A bit of an effort, but we’ve found some great stuff to watch this way.

The MX hack has been published before (although not specifically for subtitle use). However, after all this, I just use a different app! TeaTV used to be great but it’s a bit of a dog now.

Agree. It’s a solution of last resort. Most times Stremio will find thd stream and the links with subtitles.

Yeah, I abandoned my Tea TV experiment. Too much of a PITA.
Stremio’s player allows embedded subs to be enabled if available, and is fairly reliable in downloading subs if embedded ones aren’t available.
