I got sick of waiting on Amazon so I’m now a double owner of App killer and Clean Cache app. I did this also to support @TechDoctorUK, you’re guidance over the years, like Troy’s is absolutely priceless and very much appreciated. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
I agree…Surfshark switches protocols on me when I clear its cache, so now I havent been using it. If I could whitelist the VPN and clear the rest, that would be awesome.
@Powerfader Let me ask you this, though. Why would me clearing the SS cache cause the “Wireguard” setting to flip to “Automatic”? Maybe that is the bigger issue than whitelisting the Surfshark app from the Clear Cache app.
You piqued my curiosity so I am investigating your query to see what happens.
I have my SS set to Auto and it is 99% of the time connect via Wireguard. I cleared cache and it remained on Auto using Wireguard. I even removed SS from the App Killer Whitelist and proceeded to clear cache and forced closed the app. I have my SS set to auto-connect so when I just now checked it connected using the Auto setting in SS to Wireguard.
I will disable auto-connect and set my protocol to another one of the other ones and see what happens.
Update: I just ran that test and cleared cache directly using the Shield settings apps> SS> clear cache data. I also did the same using the TDUK apps. I then opened the SS app and it remained on the protocol I had chosen and closed with.
Don’t know what to tell you other than SS has really been running into several weird issues in the las week. So, not sure what is going on.
Set it to Wireguard Only first and then clear SS cache. Does it flip to Automatic? By the way, I don’t believe for one second that when it is in Automatic that is stays on Wireguard. This is based on my test speeds, a major difference.
It does the same thing with my TV mate. Every time I use the cache cleaner it erases all my recording settings even though recording settings are still visible on TV mate the actual settings are gone and I have to reset all of them.
Okay, try this, instead of clearing cache using the TDUK. Clear your cache in your devices settings for the Tivimate app itself. Then check to see if the same issue appears. This way you might be able to ID the culprit.
