Surfshark causing IPTV issues?

Question though. What is the retention of data? SS doesn’t retain any data for any period of time where others are one week, one month or more. Just wondering

surfshark have confirmed today that they do not support streaming of iptv using smarters .This has worked with no issue until recently , I have factory reset the firestick reinstalled smarters and surfshark , I have followed all the surfshark recomendations , change protocol, static dns, tried many many countries ect.I have tried using other apps instead of smarters the issue is that with surfshark connected I can log in and browse but I cannot stream anything .surfshark have stated that they only support streaming netflix and prime ect (dont need a VPN ?)

Can anyone recomend a VPN that streams with iptv paid service using smarters ?
I am aware that this may change at any moment also I am not looking for a free VPN .
thanks all

I use ProtonVPN. A bit more expensive but worth it IMHO.

Of course they are going to say that. They don’t want to appear to support illegal streaming. I have surfshark and can use in any of the 9 services I have. Only once have I had an issues with an IPTV service not working and it was because the IPTV did not allow one to be used.

That’s a valid point you make , I would like to stay with surfshark but I really have tried everything they and I can think of .

Maybe try some other services unless you are set on the one you have. Try a free VPN like proton it see if VPN or the service.

I use both the free ProtonVPN and IPVanish usually with Tivimate, but occasionally with IPTVSmarters…
IPVanish has been rock solid for the past 7-8 months after some occasional issues before then.

Hope he saw it. It’s useful for all of us. Did you ever get the smarttube issue squared away? I’ve had no issues with Smartube that I can think of with KM1 Deluxe (4/32). But I suddenly did have an issue with TiviMate. When scrolling through channels it suddenly will shoot to the end of the channel list (auto scroll very fast). The solution is to wait a second between scrolling to each channel. There may be an auto scroll function built into TiviMate, but I don’t remember it doing that before.

Hoping updates to SS fix a lot of this stuff. But a must for me is to manual (not set on auto) choose a protocol and to use either Wireguard or Open whichever is working best. Chicago server, but I’m going to check others when I get buffering with iptv/TiviMate service.

When I started experiencing issues, I asked an SS live chat rep today about some problems I was having with the VPN when attempting to view certain IPTV streams and I was told “We no longer support IPTV streaming.” Make of that what you will.

Switched to Express, never looked back.

Express VPN. More expensive, but way better.

Ipvanish, SurfShark etc and the other budget vpns are junk. I used SurfShark last year, started having issues, I even signed up for a yearly special. I went back to Express within 2 weeks, no more issues. I lost some cash on SurfShark, but it was a cost that lead to a lesson well learned.

I have problems with surfshark occasionally I will lose connection with my IPTV and I will have to shut down the kill switch turn off the VPN reconnect to my ipvt and it might take two or three times to try it once I connect I go back to surf shark connect it and if everything works then I go back and turn back on the kill button pain in the ass but yeah I try to work it.

I’ve still not had any functional issues with SS and services coexisting - however, just this week, I’m beginning to see Netflix blacklisting some of the IPs from my typical Chicago server.

Real fun reading all these comments. Everyone has an opinion on VPNs. This works well for me, this one I have trouble with, this is a budget VPN so don’t trust it, yada yada yada. What works well for you? I’ve had IVP for years with no problems, though it seems to disconnect . I’m trying SS now and kind of like it, it does stay connected all the time. I just did increase my internet speed and have done some comparisons with them on and off. Either one is quirky. SS on speeds drop, off increase. IVP the same. But come back a little later and they are reverse. So they are not consistent. S why would I think other services would be better based on one persons opinion? To me it’s a gamble on any of them. Too each their own

I’ve been using Express VPN for quite sometime. No issues. Tonight I used SurfShark, started getting buffering. Changes servers, no good. Streams will play for around 30 seconds, then buffer. Turned Express VPN back in, issues are gone. I tried changing settings w/in SurfShark as well. Deleting SurfShark off of my devices. Still have quite a few months left too. Lesson learned.

As a few others have stated, Surfshark has disconnected for them on more than one occasion with the auto kill turned on meaning if I’m away doing other things around the house and I don’t see my flashing red dot therefore I’m left unprotected.

I rarely use a vpn anymore, Most of my streaming is through real-debrid, And when I do use IPTV I really don’t worry about it. VPN just kill your speed and are so hit or miss especially when you don’t know if they’re going to interfere or not

Well that certainly hasn’t been my experience. My Proton VPN has no impact on my speeds what so ever. I won’t go online without an active vpn and it has very little to do with what I watch. I actually get better speeds with it active. Have fun and Stream On
