Stremio Apk Version and Android OS

Hi

I hope this is in the correct category.

This question is for members who use Android OS set top boxes with Android version 9 on their device, and not Android TV boxes. Nor does it apply to anyone using stremio on Android phones.

So, on the website of stremio, under Android mobile, it offers a variety of choices.
1.5.9 arm apk…1.5.9 x86… 1.5.9 Arm64 apk and 1.5.9 x 86_64apk.

Would those in that category above, in paragraph 2, please let me know which Stremio Apk they are using?

Gratefully yours.

Good day Dak7385. I may fit in your category listing, I’m not sure. But you don’t have to know ahead of time which exact one you want. If you go to
(Stremio - Freedom to Stream) using the downloader app, and once the site loads simply scroll down and the proper version for that device will have a grey background with a purple boarder and the words "Recommended " on it. That’s the proper one you want for your device. Hope that helps. gl2u

To verify the platform you are using you can install aida64 from the playstore, open it up, scroll to :point_right:CPU, find… :point_right:Supported ABIs and there to the right is what you have.

@Miki @TXRon

Thank you both for your replies. I have downloaded Aida64 and it shows for my minix armeabi -v7a,armeabi under supported ABIs.

So the highlighted version on stremio of 1.5.9 ARM APK would seem to be the correct one for my device, which i currently have installed.

I have had a few issues with Stremio and after emails back and forth to Stremio, they suggested i use 1.5.9 Arm64 apk.

But one of the issues still remain, hence my original question. I was trying to find out who was using the same app version as me, and onceci found out, i would post the question below.

If i had received replies from other users on different android device versions, and, different stremio app versions, it would not have been so easy to identify if i was the only one having the issue.

Whenever i watch say, 3/ 4 episodes back to back of a stream, i get " no stream available" after say episode 2 or 3.

To clear this, i head to app info. Force stop and then clear cache. Back to my series and everything is good again. And

My settings within stremio are:

No cache

Hardware acceleration on full

Torrent profile …Default.

And i always use a vpn, irrespective of AD or non AD streams.

I have written to Stremio support. But it would be interesting to know if this is only affecting me.

Thank you.

My stremio version on my shield is 1.5.11

Thank you. That is probably a different ABI?

My bad, yes thats android-tv version

No probs. Just trying to isolate the issue i referred to. Also continue watching doesn’t show, unless i start the next episode for a few seconds, and then exit.

Stremio said a few months ago, when i reported it, that they were aware of the " continued watching" issue.

I to am on either my Shield Pro or Max and I don’t have any issues like you describe. Never heard of anyone else who does either. I’ll do some research.

@Miki Many thanks. It will be interesting to see what Stremio say.

I am also interested. I’ve literally started in the morning and played a 10 part series from beginning to end and never an issue. I don’t do any auto playing though. I manually stop and start every episode.

I wonder if that is because you are using the Android tv version.

I may well try using stremio on AD links only without vpn enabled. I am beginning to wonder if two settings within my vpn might be causing the issue.

  1. Threat protection

  2. Tapjacking. Both enabled. Obvioulsy my knowledge of such things is limited. But step by step elimination is a process.

Once i receive a reply from Stremio, i will publish it here.

I use ProtonVPN. I’m honestly wracking my brains trying to figure what might cause this sort of issue.

In addition to my previous comments:
I raised an mx player pro issue with them before and they suggested i try this download:

https://dl.strem.io/android/v1.5.11-com.stremio.one/com.stremio.one-1.5.11-7048596-armeabi-v7a.apk

I did try it, but didn’t like the UI.

Maybe i should try again. Check out the three issues.

  1. Mx player pro

  2. Continue watching

  3. No stream available.

I will report back after trialling this and of course the reply from Stremio, on item number 3.

Regards

I updated to 1.5.11 and hated the layout. I’ve gone back to 1.5.9. I also noticed in 1.5.11 that I could not find a way within the app to add a new addon. I had to open the netlify site and add an addon from there. I don’t like the direction they’re taking.

Agreed. Which version of 1.5.9 do you use?
So, if i understand you correctly:

You have an android tv OS device and are using a stremio android mobile version?

@Miki . Heard back from Stremio. First solution was to try without vpn. I had already been doing that for 4 episodes of a stream. First three episodes played, but fourth one produced the error.

Now they are suggesting that i uninstall all add ons and reinstall them.

I have just completed that on my mac. So we will see how that works out. I will update after i have tried it out.

Incidentally, i tried to re install community subtitles, using the mac. Selected language, clicked install.

Result: error cannot fetch". Tried copy and paste the link into Stremio search bar…nada.

Then switched on my box, found community opensubtitles and it installed without a problem. Amazing!

One final query. When i get streams, i get eztv, Torrentio and orion. But i used to get, i think it was Tfb or something like that.

Do you know which add on provides that. I may have missed it in my reinstallation of add ons.

I think you are referring to one of my favourites RARBG and unfortunately it was taken down. Torrentio has multiple scrapers and is the best imho.

BTW I got android 1.5.9 apk from techbig. I didn’t get it from the official Stremio downloads site.

Thanks @Miki . No problem. Am just into a 2nd episode of a stream. Will try a few more and hope the issue is resolved.

Will update you after the trial.

Back to my question: you have an Android TV device and are using 1.5.9 Android mobile stremio version?

I will take a look at techbig version.

Just tried techbig website. Got it thanks.
