When I go to reinstall SmartTube it says “This app was built for an older version of Android and doesn’t include the latest privacy protections.” I installed it anyway.
Now, it’s working perfect. Whew…I also installed the Chrome Extension ADGuard and regular YouTube has no ads now either.
Can I ask how you were able to install it even after seeing that message? I didn’t see anyway to continue to install?
thanks
Oddly enough I’ve never sign in to YouTube but have been using SmartTube for at least 6 months with no issues. Other than the recent error 403 which has all but disappeared, all has been good. I do still get the error but very rarely since I updated, cleared cache and rebooted the app.
It says that but installed it anyway. Working now. That’s all I did.
Mine needed an update, check that also.
Can’t get smart tube(YouTube) to download from the Downloader. Says my Android phone is not compliant. I had it before and kept getting a 403 error. Don’t know what that is. Do u? Please let me know. Thanks
Not sure why you cant download to your phone but the 403 issue was resolved a over week ago. The latest updates fixed it.
I just spent some time looking around the SmartTube website.
First off I saw this: SmartTube (old name SmartTubeNext)
The dev has a lot of interesting info. I had still been having some small issues so I deleted my ST app, turned off my VPN, then downloaded beta version, with the code that was provided on the site, with downloader. Everything is fixed so I sent him a some PP funds to show appreciation for his work.
This is copied from the SmartTube site. I’ve never tried it on my phone so I can’t confirm. You might try 28544 in downloader.
SmartTube is an advanced player for Android TVs and TV boxes, free & open source. You can play content from different public sources.
Features: no ads ‧ SponsorBlock ‧ adjustable playback speed ‧ 8k support ‧ 60fps ‧ HDR ‧ read live chat ‧ customizable buttons ‧ no Google Services ‧ helpful international community
Disadvantages: no support for phones and tablets, no comments stability, voice search and casting support might be worse than in the official apps, depending on your device; give it a try!
I’m certain that you’ve noticed that another update was recently released. Last night nothing was working. But I just checked moments ago and noticed that my app had the update waiting to be downloaded. Working fine as of this moment.
Yup the updates keep coming and coming. Good, at least for now, they are able to keep up with the attempts to stop them.
Whack-a-Mole comes to mind.
I don’t recall but isn’t there an option for auto-update in the settings?
I dont see an auto update option. Just a “notify about updates” and “Notify about updates with a pop up dialog” in the settings under About.
Ah, I didn’t see under details that it says “install anyway”
I did that and it’s working on all my android devices.
Thanks!
I started having the same issue but it’s definitely the update that fixes it. Sometimes there might not even be an actual update but it reinstalls it and it’ll start functioning correctly.
I’ve just tried this and it’s still asking me to “sign in to confirm you’re not a bot”. Videos won’t play otherwise. Never had this problem until I started using Surfshark.
I’ve been using the skip option on utube, but it’s a pain in the ass. Still have to deal with ads. I like playing music, but it gets interrupted with ads. It doesn’t save my searches either. I’m so sick of it! If I hadn’t gone with Surfshark in the early summer, I’d back out of it. Paid for two years. It would’ve been nice to get a heads up that stube didn’t work with it.
Troy should mention it before people download Surfshark, especially for those who use stube regularly like me.
You have to update it. The option is there, just scroll down till you find it.
I have done everything that was suggested, including uninstalling, installing the latest version and tried the beta version. Nothings worked. It’s Surfshark. Thanks.
Change the ss protocol and see if that helps. Wire guard usually doesn’t work for me.
