Cool app, links to Trakt and vice versa, so basically just enhances Trakt. Also, a one-time lifetime payment fee if you are interested in removing ads etc, unlike Trakt’s only monthly or yearly.
Hmm I must be missing something. With Trakt which I have been using for years it integrates with KODI and I watch all my shows/movies directly within my Trakt Collection via KODI. If I’m reading this correctly Showly is ONLY a tracking app and you cannot Stream directly from it. If that is the case I don’t see the benefit.
It doesn’t seem to claim it is a Trakt replacement, just a better UI that you can even link with a free Trakt account. In that case, the Trakt would link to Kodi and Showly would link to Trakt. Might not be necessary, but I do like the UI better than Trakt from what I see already.
Yeah, I fired an email off to the Dev for more clarification and what the benefit of Showly is if there is no integration with apps like KODI or Stremio like there is with Trakt
Thanks TX Ron.
There are a few of us that do not use or recommend both Kodi and Stremio. Never a KODI fan and the learning curve for Stremio has a large learning curve for normal TV viewers.
I set up ONN devices for relatives and friends. These are normals which have no interest in learning just watching.
What I recommend is 1 click streaming apps and legal apps which have had the ads removed with a browser start page set to TVpass for cable type viewing.
My personal recommendations:
HDO Box
Onstream
TUBI - ads removed
Filmrise - ads removed
Fawesome - ads removed
Xumo Play - ads removed
RBTV77 - sports downloaded from the website updateable
TVBRO web browser. In settings set homepage to Search Engine, Default Search Engine to Custom and enter https://tvpass(dot)org/channels
For normals these are ideal.
BTW - Ret. Hat from the dinosaur era basically not interested in a discussion merely stating what most “normals” prefer which is easy. I also teach each how to update the 2 streamers which require it and link the sites in Downloader Favorites.
This is a cord cutting forum. I like to think that most that come here are eager to learn how to use platforms such as KODI and Stremio. We are above the “normals”
I think both of you are correct. I enjoy all facets of “cord-cutting”, including more verified apps like @JSRFrench mentioned above, to the more unverified apps like @MarkxG mentioned. Even down to OTA channels, I make my home cord-cutting system include as many sources as possible. That is why I love this forum so much, because we get people who are open minded and understand that things change in our world…and quite often. You have to be ready to pivot to new ways of doing things and have backups of your favorites ready to go in case you ever need them to substitute your current process.
I sincerely apologize MarxG.
Failed to realize this was an “In the Open” website where only the best and brightest congregated which limited conversation to only Kodi and Stremio discussions.
Possibly explains why I seldom contribute and only occasionally lurk if I notice something interesting which Tx Ron displayed.
Perhaps you will integrate in the chats with me later in darker part of the web, look for Uncle French, easy to locate.
Similar to Techdoc discovered when he outed me in a screwtube video a few years ago thanking my contributions, never to return.
I know people who use official apps but have the accounts setup in countries with cheaper subscription like India and the like.
Each to their own I say and I don’t try to dissuade them and convert them to how I access content.
The only official app I use is Spotify with Indian account which costs me ÂŁ17pa or just over $20 US.
You do you and good luck to you.
Spotify Premium is about the only app I haven’t figured out how to hack and so am paying the monthly fee for Premium. I have an iphone and from what I understand it’s much harder than on Android. Anyway how did you do this? Use a VPN with an India location and create an account? Is it that easy?
Switch on your VPN set it to an Indian server, go to spotify.com change your country to India, then head over to g2a. and buy a 12 month Indian subscription card. They have an app or you can use the website.
Then go back to your spotify account and ensure you are still set to India with your vpn on and apply the code.
Do not change your country account back to what it was originally.
You need to keep it set to India.
You are then free to use the account anywhere in the world without using a VPN as long as you keep the country set to India on your Spotify account.
Turned on VPN (I never use it to stream only for nefarious stuff like this!) set to India, created new Spotify account with Proton email burner, Bought the 12 month Indian Spotify sub card for $21 at g2a., redeemed code and I now have one year of Spotify Premium. Worked like a charm!
Thanks so much @Avid08
Glad you sorted it.
I really want to use it on my phone so I guess I need to log out of my current account on the app, install my VPN app on my phone, set the VPN to India, then log into the new Spotify account I created for this on the app
Edit: - All set on the phone. Have a bunch of Indian music on my home page LOL! But can still search and get all my playlists from old account . decreased my annual sub costs by almost 600%
You do know you can get a modded Spotify premium for free
Yeah on android but I have an iphone. As far as I know there are no modded IOS spotify Premium hacks that actually work
Sorry thought you were on android.
Boy did this thread go off in left field. This is a good recommendation, although very similar to one I’ve used for quite a while. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jonathanantoine.TVST&pcampaignid=web_share.
