Remove google launcher for Onn box

Does anyone know how to remove the google launcher from a Onn box? Not just adding a custom launcher a way to disable it like I do on my Nvidia Shield

What’s wrong with a custom launcher? It effectively disables it. What are you looking to do? What does your Shield boot up and show now that you have disabled Google Launcher?

If you change to “Apps Only” Mode it will only show what Apps you have. You will lose some functionality but it takes away a lot of the Bloatware. I refuse to use a custom launcher. The one and only time I tried it on my cheaper $20 ONN it Bricked my Box. Was able to get it back but that was my one and done with launchers

@MarkxG I still use Wolf Launcher on Nvidia Shield Pro but thinking to switch to Projectivy which I use on ONN Pro and TiVo. Wouldn’t want to NOT use a launcher now. Projectivy is quick easy and feature rich, never had a problem

I have had 5 total Onn boxes and put Launcher Manager on all of them without even a slight hiccup or issue. I have no clue to what everyone that bricked these things did wrong. Still a mystery to me.

Yeah pretty sure at the time I installed Wolf Launcher I followed Troy’s directions to the T. Seems that at least once per week this is happening :man_shrugging:

I’ve literally tried to recreate the issues and brick them by hitting wrong buttons, using the wrong LM, etc and I can’t get the black screen of death.

I just did that to my $20 box. Black screen, can’t reset it I added Flauncher and something happened and it went dark. Tried what I found out and would factory reset but can’t find how to do it on this. Only button is the re-pair remote. I tried holding ir down and unplugging and replugging and nothin. What did you do to get it back? Thanks

Yeah it was the $20 ONN for me as well not my Pro. I do not remember what I did. I almost gave up but figured it out. It involved holding buttons down through a reboot. Strangely the wifi getting disconnected was one of the biggest problems if I remember. BUT I never had to do a factory reset. It came back up to a menu and I got it to work and everything I had installed was still there.

The answer is here. Somebody and it might have been @Miki posted the steps for this and I think that is what I did to get it back. Try doing a search here

1:Hold reset button on back of box for 5 seconds

2:unplug the device

3 still holding reset for 10 seconds

4: stiil hold the reset plug the box back in.

Use the reset button to scroll through the listed options
Press and hold to initiate the command

THanks I will try this

I use ONN in apps only mode as well. But I also still is Wolf Manager. Just not Launch Manager.

Do you manually launch Wolf or use Launch on Boot?

I manually launch. It is the first app listed in apps only mode.

Gotcha! Any particular reason you prefer it that way over using LM, LOB or another automated launching system? It would drive me nuts lol, but assuming this is how you prefer it.

On my Nvidia shield I disable some things and the google stuff is gone was only trying to do the same with the onn box obviously this has went to a launcher discussion

You never did answer my question, so I guess we got sidetracked on Launcher Manager…which isn’t completely off subject.

A non google screen just my App Icons I CHOOSE!!

Here is my Onn Pro. You DON’T want something like this right?
