Recording in Tivimate

if its an internal ssd you can get a case for it and use it in the usb port. ssd.s are fast.

Love SSDs, and would recommend them for any storage.

On a separate note, look at this crazy deal. Maybe for anyone looking to make a Plex server or whatever. (note, this link is NOT an SSD)

I have an 8TB Seagate USB 3.0 drive hooked to one of my Shield Pros. TiviMate is configured to record to it and it’s also shared on my network… every device in the house can access it. Prior to attaching it to the Shield, it was hooked up to my router. I’ve had better luck with TiviMate recordings with it attached to the Shield than when it was attached to the router. However, it’s still hit or miss… some recordings are successful while others aren’t. I look forward to the day when TiviMate will resume recording on its own after a buffering incident. I’d also love to see it be cloud-based like Stremio.

hooking storage to a router usb is an easy setup if you have that option and ive tried it and all worked. Its very handy as a one stop shop for all media however I prize my router and dont want to stress it because I dont have a backup router…so I set up external storage off of a ugoos box with samba and now thats my one centralized storage location.

It’s not a ssd…it’s a desktop WD 1TB HD internal drive that I salvaged when my SIL bought a new computer.

in my buzztv post look at the bottom pic, that box in the back is a 2 drive hdd box I record to.

If you have a computer on the same network as your firestick and you have some storage space you can link TVMATE to the computer to save the recordings. I have 3 firesticks and all 3 are linked to the same folder on my computer and i can record a program and watch on any firestick. All you need is to download an app and do a little setup to get it to work. App is free

RE: Recording

IMHO, I have to wonder just how much recording everyone does and why they need soooo much storage space? I mean are people recording every movie and tv show they watch or are they just recording a game or two and maybe even a tv show.

Tbh, with the plethora of VOD apps available to watch just about everything. I just don’t see the need for any elaborate and extensive recording set-up. A lousy 64 GB USB thumb drive seems to me to be more than enough for 99.9% of cable cutters.

FYI, I have 256 GB SanDisk’s in each of my devices and have NEVER even come close to using up even 10% of the storage! I mean, it’s not like the old days when we all had an extensive collection of VHS tapes and disks. Now we have VOD, cloud and thumb drive for free and hassle free, too!

To me, it was one of those things that sounded so awesome I figured I would be recording everything. Come to realize that I really don’t do it lol. It is nice to have as an option, a quick newscast with a family member on it or an old movie/show that is difficult to find sources for that you may want to record and save for multiple views. But yea, don’t need crazy amounts of storage. The large storage that I posted was more maybe to use partially for that but maybe for a personal Plex server. I keep my home videos and pictures in there, obviously tons of those of my son as he grows up. And I’ll have another coming around the first of August, so I want to always make sure I have enough storage as I take more videos now than photos. I have a 12TB internal HDD (NAS version) inside of my server. That will be fine for a while lol.

LAWDY! No way I want my kids to see me on some newscast! If they did, I’d guarantee they would be seeing me being handcuffed! :oncoming_police_car:

This isn’t related to the printer idea, right?

Well, now that you mention it…

We have 3 grandkids. I keep a library of children’s movies on my drive that’s attached to the Shield. Also keep our family video library that spans 37 years. I was a videographer for 30+ years… shot metro Atlanta weddings… so I had a habit of recording a lot of video of family events. Also, due to the videography biz I still have tons of HD space that I no longer use. Gotta put it to work somehow!

Need a little help here. I did the Troy setup with smb and would rather record to the router. When I plug the ssd into the router, it does not assign an IP to it. No IP I can’t set up Tivimate to record to it. What am I missing here. Thanks for any help.
