In general, the cache size and performance of the debrids would go in this order
RD>AD>PM>TB but cache size isn’t the whole story. PM and TB are not in France so allow link verification to avoid the stream failed message and having to try another link. They are also in jurisdictions that are more privacy friendly. Reading the privacy policy of RD and AD scares some people.
Alldebrid is a fine service, but since it is based in France it suffers from the same enforcement as RD and that means links can’t be directly verified via API(but some search addons have workarounds)
Troy, another poster or I can’t really tell you what debrid will be best for you because there are too many factors that influence the decision. Alldebrid or any debrid really, will have links for all of the common titles that if you say their name people recognize it. It also depends on how picky you are for a file with specific, size, resolution, codec, audio etc. Some debrids have more for each specific title some more for another.
The difference can be greater if you tend to watch titles that if you say their name someone else would have to search on IMDB to know what you are talking about. When dealing with rarer content it is a total grab bag and the service with the smallest cache may actually match what you watch better. This is because the cache is built and maintained by users, so while in general more users equals more cache (that’s why RD is the biggest) it isn’t always so straightforward. To oversimplify it think of everyone on a service watching the same 10 new Netflix releases but none like 1950’s Dianna Dior movies that you like but, on another service, you have a “twin” that watches the same movies as you do. That user will be building and maintaining the cache to meet your viewing habits while the Netflix watchers on the other service won’t.
So, the biggest thing is knowing yourself and what you want. Then you have to try a service to see if it works for your geographical area/ISP etc. Privacy policies, legal jurisdictions etc. Everyone has different takes.
Thank you, Scooby. That was quite a detailed explanation. I’m happy with PM and I occasionally have to click on 4-5 links to get a valid working link. Who knows why. Doesn’t really bother me. I have another year and four months on my PM so I’m good for now. I may try RD for 30 days out of boredom to see if it performs differently.
RD website says 16 Euros for 6 months which is about $3.12 a month. Does that sound correct? It’s much cheaper than what I paid for PM even with the Black Friday promotion.
Good day @GraceWilson are you able to find your control panel online for your account? If so could you give the section I have circled a try please. I am not sure where you are located but you could test them out one by one to find the best and gastes one for you. You can see the one I use. I then chose my VPN server location closest to that location. I honestly have never found a source that doesn’t play for me.
Yup RD is much cheaper than PM although from reading the comments here it appears some got a great Black Friday PM deal. Been with RD for about 6-7 years and never a problem playing links. I usually just play the first source delivered (4K or 1080P) and it just plays
I use the two together and with the deal it is cheaper than RD but even then it’s less than 50 cents/mth, not worth worrying about. I have a sub to both and find them equally as good. At less than $9/mth it’s a damn good investment for my entertainment. I do it for the same reason that I have 3 Playlists, convenience and stability.
Yes - it typically averages out around $18USD after conversion for a 6 month sub. You will also earn fidelity (reward points) points that you can convert to 1 month extensions for every 1000 points earned.
Thank you. My “default” was set to AUTOMATIC. I went through all and did speed tests. They are all really comparable, 115-116 Mbps.
When it says NORTH AMERICA HIGH PERFORMANCE, how do you pick a VPN location that you think is close to that? I’m in the southeast and usually use Atlanta/Charlotte/Miami as my Surfshark VPN server location.
So in other words, every single link you click in STREMIO plays the first time you click it and you never get that CAT POP UP that says, “Network Connection Failed”?
Sometimes on my STREMIO, I have to click several 3-4 links before mine plays. Sorry this thread momentarily got diverted to my STREMIO question but it applies to my PM issue.
That’s pretty amazing. I get a few of these every day. On the speed test, I didn’t let it finish and did not see the distance. I’ll go look again. Thanks you!
I watched a few videos and changed the DNS as you did for the malware blocker. I ran a speed test and it was a bit faster. Who knows if it will help with bad links. That 1.1.1.1 app is only for phone, iPad or PC, correct? So I don’t need it for ONN or Fire TV Cube.
I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for your continuing genius assistance.
@GraceWilson Honestly I feel your frustration and genuinely want to do all that I can to alleviate it. It will be nice if we can help you get to a stable and enjoyable point in your streaming journey. No that app will work on android I think it’s in the playstore. Many things like this change the DNS the same on most any device as network setup is pretty close to universal.
You and this board have TRANSFORMED my streaming experience. Stremio Bootstrap was amongst the coolest changes I’ve made. I’m very grateful and will keep tweaking. I could spend a few bucks for RD and perhaps that’s the ultimate fix. My stuff works superbly for the most part but tweakers gotta tweak.
