Ok will try when I get home, so that support site shows the universal remote but does not let you order one, they must have a web site, will look into this and see about getting one

Here is exactly why I threw the 2 ONNs I got into the trash.
Here are the instructions to set-up the ONN remote to control your tvā¦
First, hit the settings button*, then press ok
Next, scroll down to Remotes and Accessories, press ok
Then, scroll down to set-up remote buttons and press ok
Press ok on add device,
Press ok on TV
Then select your make of tv
Find RCA and follow the steps for each functionā¦

The ONN box works better than most Chinese boxes on the marketā¦
Itās fast and clean and everything works great for streaming tvā¦

Boy quite the article, I see why you threw your 2 away. I have been using this for about 2 weeks now and canāt say that I see any difference then what I see on my FS 4K MAX, but then again I am a old man with glasses and hearing aids, just thought I would try one of the Onn boxes to see what it was like, Need something certified to replace the FS, donāt want to purchase non certified Android box with malware imbedded in it. Looking at getting the NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO, but it looks like they have their own problems also every now and then.

Pez149, that the steps by default when you first setup the box, this did not work as the RCA setup gave me 13 different codes to try to adjust the volume, non of them worked and the same for the Power button. going to look at the universal remote

Lol. Not really Mr. pepermint. For $20 it will just do. Iām a tad fussier on the quality of my viewing. But as Iāve mentioned a number of times if it works for you thatās all that matters.

The ONN 4K is a great little box. Been using it since it Came out. But if you donāt need certification and most donāt the cheap China boxes are great as well. I have 2 old T95Z Plus boxes about 6 years old and they still work great. The stories of Malware on these boxes makes for a good story but is wildly overblown. Iāve yet to actually here about someone actually getting Malware from these boxes or having any Malware related issue. The Authors of these articles know that this will give them clickbait. FUD.

The ONN Box works great for streaming.
Now if you want to talk media center, none of these boxes can stand up to some that I had in the pastā¦
But like you said, to each their ownā¦

It does work, but not for those needing proper settings for say a good streamed picture, or for pairing a TV or oh snap, screen scaling. For $20 what do you expect. Glad it works for you. Tx for your post Mr. Pepermint. Have a good night.

As for programming this has nothing to do with the ancient Dave and Charlie but the limits of the ONN program and if you can help with that then please do so. Just an update,Purchases the Onn 6-device universal remote for my Onn box to see if I could pair this to my box, then use to pair to my RCA TV, so far no luck in the direction that came with this remote for my Onn box to recognize this remote, entered the only Code for the Onn box 39400, every indication by the instructions it took the code but nothing on the remote works to control the box.Then did the search auto code setup with no luck. Has anyone else with this box got a different remote to work?. I did disconnect the original remote and then tried to setup again but had no luck. Any suggestion
I just retired my last FS (for now) and set up my extra Onn in my LR.
I had to set up my remote twice in order for it to recognize my sound bar. It finally accepted it.
My question. Are we reprogramming the remote to work with the tv or the Onn box to adjust the tv setting? Just curious. The Onn remote is infared and may need line of sight to work on the tv.
Also i notice that even though my tv is 4k uhd etc the Onn automatic resolution setting was to 1080. I had to adjust the 4k. Not sure why it wont automatically adjust to the tvs capability.
I wonāt complain about the onn for $20 but will eventually switch to nvidia once a sale comes around.

JPM69, I am trying to reprogram the Onn remote to my RCA TV so the Onn remote controls the volume and the input functions. For the RCA TV settings I am using the original remote for that, I am also looking into the Nvidia Shield TV Pro, trying to read as much about this unit as I can, I think I came across a post from someone saying that they are waiting for a new release unit, not sure if there is any truth to this. Yes this is not a bad box for the price.
I have a Nvidia shield tv pro on a diffent tv and you wont be disappointed. Its pricey but worth it if you can afford it. I havenāt heard of any new Nvidia device coming but that would be great. The older models should drop in price if so. Its goes on sale every now and then for $179 or $169 (i forget). Keep a look out if you can.
I understand what you want to do i was just curious if the remote itself is being reprogrammed or you are telling the onn box to control the RCA tv volume and the box is sending the signal to the tv through the hdmi cable. If that makes any sense. Not a techy guy.
