I would check to see if there’s an update these boxes. Do work in Canada. I have 3 of them. I’m in Canada.
It’s normally the setup of the unit from the USA that won’t work in Canada and you need a Hotspot VPN. After that, doesn’t matter what country you choose so this is a first I’ve heard this.
That depends. Now Canada has their “own” Onn for the Canadian region. It sounds like the poster may have bought the Onn in the USA.
For me, I’d buy rather buy something from AliExpress or Shopee that is region unlocked and rooted from the factory.
I heard similar except you need to keep using the US Hotspot. I imagine some have downloaded an Android VPN client and that won’t help because during boot the Onn pings and determines your actual location then. Only a VPN through your router or PC’s Hotspot can prevent this until Onn pushes a firmeware update that displays an error message that it detects you’re using a VPN.
FYI. Walmart in Canada currently sells the pro for $75 CDN.
No you don’t. Never again, only on setup. Now I use SS on it with any country VPN I want. You don’t even need a VPN, you only needed it to register and yes, they are available here now so that issue is gone. ** I’ve pointed out numerous times though, by using a USA VPN you get a differernt menu and free USA programming you otherwise don’t get. It’s dynamic as well since the top menu even changes if you choose another country.
i`m in Ireland and even using ipvanish set to US i get unsupported device error,any help appreciated only have onn 2 days and have tried some googled workarounds

As Mike said, so much has been written about this. Running your VPN on the device won’t do it, you absolutly must use a VPN hotspot running on something else. ** Been there done that long ago.
I got a friend in Africa and he can bareley get anything on netflix. If I program the ONN box here in the states and mail it to him.. what hardware router VPN would you suggest I tell him to get? and this probably has been covered in other threads that I just haven’t found.. so feel free to move this where it belongs
I followed the instructions using Surfshark, which were great, and I became hopeful when I was able to start up the setup and registration, however after updates were automatically installed, I got the ‘out of country’ screen. Any helpful hints would be appreciated
Streamers, I recently watched a video from UGTECH guy which showed how to bypass the USA regional lock on the ONN stick. I tried to following the video which is very straightforward but Im using Surfshark whereas he uses IPVanish and I could not connect to my laptop.
Has anyone here outside the US been able to get this working using Surfshark as their VPN?

I have followed UGTECH guys setup three times on my laptop with no success. I tried once using my Samsung S22 phone, by sharing my WiFi hotshot, connected to an American connection in Surfshark and it connected straightaway.
